It's not a waste bc you can always sterilize it and store it away until a future date when your hymen is...no longer an issue.

I personally would not recommend a cup to a virgin. I remember using tampons before I had had intercourse. I could get them in ok, but I ALWAYS hurt myself getting them out. I was about 15 or 16 and had never really been taught about female anatomy, so I didn't understand all the details of just exactly how the hymen was positioned. I eventually figured out that if I pulled the tampon out to one side, it wouldn't get caught and hurt me. I can't imagine trying to maneuver a big plastic cup-thingy up in there.Â

Not saying you can't make it work, but it wouldn't have worked for me. When I use my Diva now, I use the folding method where you fold the rim in half and then half again. I work it in just a wee bit and then let it pop open inside. Next I push it up and twist it side to side and then sort of use my finger to make sure it's all the way opened. Last, I pull it down just a smidge to create a bit of suction, but if I stand up and feel the bottom of it on my vulva, I use one finger to push it back up in the vagina.

When you pull it out, make sure you pull to one side if that helps keep from pulling on the hymen. GL!
