I have a 13-day old with eye goop and I've been treating with breast milk. I also was just diagnosed with thrush and so now we're dealing with that fun. Baby is asymptomatic, and we believe he hasn't colonized the yeast yet, meaning there is a chance we can cure it in me before he gets it. It occurred to me this morning that maybe I shouldn't be putting yeasty breast milk in his eyes (and maybe this caused the goop?). On the other hand, I may not have a ton coming out in my milk if he doesn't have it yet. Thoughts on this? I could call the midwife but it's Sunday and I hate dealing with the labor and delivery nurses on the phone. :( I'd rather wait until tomorrow and talk to the clinic staff who know what they're talking about...
thank you!
