Is there such a thing as too many Braxton Hicks?

I'm having a ton. Like 4 in the last half hour. They're uncomfortable, of course, but not painful. Not really any pattern to them. I am getting over some sort of stomach bug so I may be a bit dehydrated, which I'm working on remedying right now.  I'm 35 weeks so it's not like they'd do anything to try to stop labor if it were to start now, but I'd rather keep this little guy in there for another couple weeks at least.  Is there such a thing as too many Braxton Hicks contractions?

I regularly have them every few minutes for a few hours at a time, especially when I've been particularly active. I'm only 23 weeks but for the past 2 1/2 days have had them like that, ever since I did some heavy cleaning the other day. My midwife doesn't worry about it, as long as there aren't other signs of pre-term labor like sore lower back, increased discharge, etc... I worry too because I'm so early, but I figure it's probably normal since this is my third baby, and I try to look at it in a positive way, that hopefully when it is time for labor, it will go quickly since my body obviously remembers what to do! I follow all of the regular recommendations to get them to calm down- drinking lots, taking baths, resting, a small glass of wine, etc. I do wish there was more I could do to stop them though, it is really tiring and annoying to have them so frequently!

for myself personally? When they get to be every two minutes - I sit down.

Did it help me labor any faster or sooner last time around? Not a chance. I had my baby at 41+4 after more days than I care to count of labor.

Ditto Sarah.  I had them constantly my last pregnancy, starting at 18w.  I had more than 4 an hour easily for a large majority of that time, it was extremely annoying.  My son was born at 39w, and labor was relatively quick for a first timer at 10 hours long.  This time I'm still experiencing them, although not near as many.  I'm not sure what the difference is this time.

I have them with every pregnancy...I've found gatorade helps way more than water does or wine for that matter (and I love wine..haha)

but yeah, they can be bad news if they have other symptoms of labor, but are generally nothing to get excited about...just annoying

Im having them big time as well, this is my third pg and I had them tons with my 2nd pg too. I just try to relax and get some fluids down. Kind of hard with a 2 year old though! Lol mine didn't help me with my last pg, they didn't change my cervix, just helped my uterus get ready.

Good luck!!!

Well, figured out mine are most likely due to a yeast infection. I'm not symptomatic but had my doc run the test today just to check, and sure enough, that's what it is. Fun stuff.
