What's everyone cooking for St. Patrick's Day this year???

I almost always make corned beef & cabbage, but want something different this year.  I was thinking champ, but I don't know what else.

 

What's on your St. Pat's menu?

We're doing fish and chips, sauteed cabbage and something green for dessert.

Green dessert...that's fun!  I didn't think about that since we rarely eat dessert.  I think this holiday will be an exception, though!!!!

fish and chips is a GREAT idea. So cute! But I like tradition so I am making corned beef and cabbage, with soda bread. I love st. patty's meals!

DH is pouting once more this year about the fact that I won't make corned beef and cabbage.  Never really liked it so not interested in putting all that effort into it.  Years past I've made shepard's pie but this year I'm switching it up and making fish and chips.  I like the idea of a green dessert (who am I kidding, I just like the idea of dessert blush.gif), gonna have to think about that one.  Saw a recipe for green velvet cupcakes on Food Network today....

This is our first year doing anything for St Patrick's Day (we just got home from a vacation in Ireland).  We're having guiness corned beef, colcannon, brown soda bread (a recipe a friend from Ireland shared with me that's been passed down in her family), and I'm not sure what we'll do for dessert yet.  I think lamb stew with soda bread would be a great treat as well. . .mmmm, or the fish and chips.  I had one dish in Ireland that was like colcannon with bacon rashers on top of it. . .it was my favorite thing I ate there.  You could even do a traditional Irish Breakfast for dinner. . .that would be fun!

We do tacos. With purple cabbage. Nothing green in protest. :)

If anyone's still looking for an Irish dessert I just read that apple based desserts are very popular.  Pies, crisps, crumbles, dumplings and the like.

we made corned beef and cabbage in the crock pot with a yummy stout broth. It was yummy too! Cheers everyone! Hope you enjoyed the day!

yep, we do corned beef and cabbage as well.  This year it was our "do over" from New Years.  Our tradition is to have corned beef and cabbage on new years for good luck for the year.  So far, that hasn't worked out so well this year.  So, we had to have a "do over" and make sure EVERYONE ate some corned beef and some cabbage, even if they didn't like it lol  Hopefully now the rest of the year won't be so bad.
