Ds has been potty trained for over 1 1/2 years, he is now a bit over 4 1/2 and this past week he has been having 1-2 accidents a day, both pee and bowel movement accidents. Normally he starts to go #2 on himself and either he catches it or I do and he finishes on the toilet, but this is very out of character for him. I recently took away his computer game time because he was becoming to engrossed in it, and the potty accidents started just after that. I am also 35 weeks pregnant and have been playing baby with ds with his stuffed animals and we have been clothing and diapering them when he wants, could this be a sign of regression? He also is starting K in the fall and just had K roundup so he has had a lot of big changes lately so perhaps that is the reason for the accidents? How should I handle the situation? I have asked him why he has accidents but he doesn't give a reason, he is normally playing with toys when it happens and when I have caught him before he goes he says he doesn't need to go, but i have him go anyway and then he does, it is as if he doesn't want to go or stop what he is doing to go, which i could understand if he was still potty training, but he has literally not had an accident since he trained up until these past couple weeks...

That does seem like a long time. No advice. I am here because of the same issue with dd. She got trained last Nov. though and has been having poop accidents since a few weeks. She lets out just a little though and then cries when we throw out her underwear. But, continues to do it nevertheless. She really doesn't have any pee accidents but had one last month.

Â
He had chronic constipation and that causes mix signals. Â He did not have pee accidents but it is not unheard of for that to happen because of the pressure put on the bladder.Â
Â
He would have several little accidents through out the day then unload. Â It came to the point he would go multiple days with multiple accidents then have a stop the toliet poop once a week to 10 days. Â The softer stuff was working around the harder stuff :( Â
Â
I had bad medical doctors that told me it was in his head. Â It wasn't because the constipation was so long his bowel were stretch and not communicating right.Â
Â
We put him on a stool softner for a LONG time and SLOWLY weaned him off because his bowels were messed up. Â But we had to do other things also. Â Encouraging him to sit on the potty right after his meals (some people do better waiting 5-10minutes before heading to the potty). Â We made sure he was watered throughout the day. Â We eliminated, then sparcely added things on the BRAT (Bananas, Rice, Apple, Toast) Diet. Â My son was getting to much fiber -- and not all fiber is friendly. Â The fibers from the BRAT diet are often constipating. Â
Â
Please do not punish him.Â
