Temping

I'm sure this is here and if someone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
Started temping this morning, my temp was 96.7. I figured I had to start somewhere. I can feel when I ovulate and have been irregular since college. I got my Mirena out in September, prior to that I felt ovulation every month. I did not ovulate November or January. I ovulated February.
However my cycles seemed to regulate to normal lengths, a first for me without BC.
DH and I took a break from TTC for December and January. I should have ovulated this past Friday but as far as I can tell didn't. We decided I would start temping just in case.
But, I am clueless about temping. greensad.gif
Any tips for a temping newbie?

I would recommend checking out www.fertilityfriend.com.  You can do a free chart on there, and they have plenty of tutorials as to how to do it.  Temping is pretty simple... just take your temp around the same time each morning before you get out of bed, talk, move around, etc.  Record it on a chart (either paper or online - like fertility friend), and look for a shift.  I think a usual shift is about .3 degrees - once you temp goes up and stays up at least three days, it's considered that you O'ed the day before the temp went up.

Good luck to you!  :)

I agree with using FF. I started using a week or so ago, but I got behind on reading the email lessons until today. I found that a lot of the questions I had were answered in those emails. So, my advice for now is to make sure to read those. They are REALLY informative!

Thanks ladies! Not sure if temping will be for me, I had no idea I woke so many times in the night or I am anxious about it and I am waking a ton. Just to compare I took my temp when I woke and then after and I was up and about, it was lower after I had been up.
Reading my emails so hopefully that clears up my questions and I am buying a new thermometer this week, I have a digital but saw one at Target specifically for TTC.

Yeah, I didn't realize I was supposed to temp as soon as I wake up regardless of the time. I am in the same boat. I usually wake up about an hour before I'm supposed to and I wasn't temping then. After I read the Temping lesson, I realized I had to start temping the first time I woke up after 3 solid hours of sleep.

AND, wouldn't you know it - I woke up at 3:45 am this morning!!!!  Grrrr.

I seem to wake almost every hour, no joke! And I get up seems to be around 3 every morning to use the bathroom. I get up at five normally so I am wondering if I should temp then? The lessons said morning is much better than middle of the night. I think the thermometer I looked at has a memory. If so, if I wake I could just temp and go back to sleep and check it when I wake.
Who knew taking your temp could be so complicated! Haha!
