Hi!
Â
I have been reading here about the benefits of megadosing sodium ascorbate to treat pertussis. My 6 month old possibly has it, we will know today or tomorrow, and then if so, likely his 2.5 year old sister as well. My question is, what is the difference if any between ascorbic acid and sodium ascorbate - specifically as related to treating pertussis. When I called one of our local health food stores for availability of SA, they didn't have it but suggested AA was more pure, just minus the sodium. Is there a difference?
Â
If we do in fact have pertussis, we are only just beginning so I am hoping starting this treatment now will have some promising results. Has anyone had experience with treating a 6 month old for pertussis with SA or AA?
Â
This is one of my worst nightmares and will prove to my vax-believing family members that I was wrong in my refusal. I am praying desperately that test comes back negative. We were in ER last night with respiratory distress and he did test positive for RSV. Some limited research I did showed that pertussis can actually cause RSV, so in rare cases there can be co-infection. Scary! He is 6 months old but about 20 pounds. Right now we are giving albuterol breathing treatments, steam showers, saline/suction, elevated sleeping.

Thank you in advance for any information, suggestions, similar stories, etc. I appreciate it!

Blessings and health,
Kathleen
