My husband and I are trying to get pregnant. This would be month 8. I was on the pill a couple years back, but all it did was constantly give me my period. I was bleeding for 21 days and then off for 4 and then it was back again. So backwards. I went off of it and my period was regular for a couple months. I figured it kick started me into regular cycles, which I was not used to.. Last summer we decided it was time to add to our family and all of a sudden the periods stopped. I would go 60-120 days. In January, my friend recommended progesterone cream. Instructions say, use for 14 days on - 14 days off. The perfect 28 day cycle. I started it and 14 days later got my period. I thought it was a miracle. Next cycle was 28 days and then this cycle was 24. A concern that I talked to with someone was the concentration of progesterone in the pill and how it induced my period and now the affects of the cream is inducing my period. I really want to get pregnant, but I don't know if I should stop the cream. Any suggestions?Â

Well first of all, progesterone doesn't make you ovulate. It tricks the body into thinking it is. It builds up the uterine lining which eventually needs to shed. You need to look into other methods of gaining a regular cycle. Vitex may help. Clomid is what works best for me. I would talk to my doctor about it. Good luck .:)
Progesterone will help your body ovulate.
Do you know how to tell if you've ovulated? If so, you start using the cream AFTER you ovulate, until you start bleeding, then stop till you ovulate again. If you aren't ovulating, you can try the 14 days on and off to see if it kicks in, but you always need to be watching for the ovulation. I will try to remember the name of the book I read to learn about it. It is what helped me to get on track. If the pill gave you problems I would be hesitant to try something like Clomid. At least look into the natural options first and see.Â
Good luck!!!! and keep us posted as to how it's going!

I don't know a lot about Clomid - look around online I guess. I know one person who went on it and it was really hard on her body and kind of changed her personality. But that's just one person. I do know people with PCOS and there are a LOT of natural treatments for it which might be worth looking into before you go the (expensive!) drug route. Can't hurt anyways.
Just did a quick google search - lots on there:

What else did the doctor suggest?
Saskabush - I did Clomid for two cycles before getting my BFP. I had no problems with it at all. I took it at night to hopefully sleep through the side effects. I may have gotten a bit moodier, but it wasn't bad. It helped me get my BFP, so obviously I'm a big fan. I had tried a B-Complex vitamin to regulate my cycle previously... but it didn't work. The price wasn't bad at all for me. I think even without insurance, it was only $17... with insurance, it was about $10. Considering all I had paid for TTC paraphanalia over the past year, that $10 was the best investment of all.Â
