Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew of any doctors in the St. Louis area that are willing to be back up for a homebirth. I haven't heard very good things about the OB's around here in relation to being supportive of homebirths. I'm currently seeing a midwife, but I'm concerned about not having a totally solid back up plan. Since we are low income and I'm not sure if our insurance would cover me being rushed to the hospital...so it's kind of scary for me to think that we could end up with thousands of dollars in hospital bills. Thanks!

You're looking for someone to do shadow or back-up care, correct?
Is your insurance covering your homebirth?
An option might be to see a family practice doctor or OB who has privileges at your preferred transfer hospital -- that way you'd be a patient in the system.
