I just pulled my first load of DS's dipes out of the washer. There are bright yellow stains on all the formerly poopy diapers. They smell clean enough, but look horrid. How do I fix it?

Sometimes a little extra detergent has worked well for getting stains out. But hanging or simply putting them in a sunny spot has always worked wonders for us. Even just indoors. Borax successfully got rid of stains on dd's pants (fruit juice that I stupidly used a bar of soap on - thus setting the stain in) so it definitely has a good cleaning power. But I've read mixed reviews on Borax. I don't know whether it's really safe for diapers or not. I hope it is because I'm pretty sure it's in Planet powder that I use. Either way, Borax needs to be rinsed out really well.Â

I find that poop stains get better after a few more washings (assuming your baby does not poop on them again).
The best way to get them out is to put them outside damp and let the UV light do the trick. It does not have to be warm out, or particularly sunny. My friend took my stained, unbleached diapers to Australia (and used them). She line dried them there and they came back brilliantly white.
