Worried about my mom

My mom has had some vaginal bleeding.  She is in her 50's and had menopause years ago so I insisted she make a dr appt even though she said it was stress-related.  The doc said it probably is hormonal and she should be on hormone therapy meds but to get a sonogram just in case.  She got her sonogram today and we won't know anything for a few days.  They will call if the results are bad but if she doesn't hear by Monday she is going to call.  I am so worried.  Has anyone or anyone's mom or someone else you know dealt with this?

My mama had this happen to her. Turned out she was having hormonal imbalances. I know, it is so stressful and scary when our moms have something funky going on.

Even if the ultrasound is normal, she should have an endometrial biopsy. It's a very simple in-office procedure. Overgrowth of the uterine lining is a very common cause of post-menopausal bleeding, and it puts women at risk for endometrial cancer. Make sure they do a biopsy to rule that out. 

I'm a nurse practitioner, btw.

Thanks Ellie's Mom...she actually had the biopsy today...we are going to find out the results in about a week or maybe by the weekend.  I really appreciate all of the hugs and words of wisdom.

So glad the test result was normal.  I just read one of Suzanne Somers books about bioidentical hormone replacement, and apparently bleeding is a common symptom in menopausal women who could benefit from hormone replacement, so that might be something for her to consider looking into.
