tried pecan, vomited the next morning, allergy or coincidence?

My DS (5) used to have reflux when I ate nuts when he was breastfeeding, so he hasn't had them directly.  I gave him a pecan  at 7 pm,  he seemed fine.  The next morning, he vomited before eating breakfast, but he seemed perfectly fine the rest of the day.  So allergic reaction or total coincidence?  And if it was allergic, why would it take that long to bother him?

It could be an intolerance but I wouldn't think an allergy.  Allergic reactions typically would happen much sooner.  Maybe try it again earlier in the day.

My son got his first peanut exposure (other than during pg, my bad) at age 3, and threw up several times about 5 hours later.  When I talked to an allergist about it when I had a different child in to be seen, the allergist said it was a peanut allergy and gave me an epi pen prescription for him (actually a vial and syringe since he weighed too little for the pen) sight-unseen, and untested.  That was how convinced the allergist was that the vomiting signaled a peanut allergy.

vomiting is on that one scale (forgot the name) for seriousness of allergic reactions and is quite a serious one, up near anaphylaxis.

This description of anaphylaxis lists vomiting as a symptom and says the symptoms can occur hours after the exposue.  This coincides with what the allergist told me.
