Fourth day *very* positive OPK but I think I already ovulated...

We are TTC #2 and I have just had my fourth straight day of positive OPK.  I am temping, but my 2.5 year old sleeps terribly so temping is a little unreliable now.  When TTC him, it was very obvious that I had short luteal phases (7-10 days).  This is the first time I have used the First Response OPK, but I am sure I am reading it right.  I also am fairly certain from temping that I ovulated two days ago, yet still very positive OPK.  Any thoughts....?  TIA!

I've had several days of positives on OPKs, but I read that one should take the first real positive, calculate ovulation to happen 24-36 hours later, and disregard the subsequent positives. For some people the LH spike stays high a little longer, but the original spike is what's supposed to spur ovulation. My DD is also 2.5 (September baby) and we're trying for #2 as well. Happy baby making!

Thanks Emaya!  I bought a pack of 20 OPKs and I didn't know that once you open them, you have to use them within the month, hence the repeated testing.  I was positive again today, but not as crazy dark as the other days.  I admit, I am a POAS addict.  Best of luck to you too!

I don't know if this helps but I like this website a lot:
http://www.peeonastick.com/

I just got a smiley face on my FIrst Response OPK at 5;30 AM and it's CD22 today - I always test around 6:00AM and last month I got a smile face at 6:00AM on CD17. But it was gone in 24hrs so this time around I'm going to do another OPK tonight just to how long my LH surge lasts.

I thought you could get more than one positive day with OPK - go for it!

Make sure you use OPKs around the same time every day.  You could have a streak of positives if, for example, your first positive was at night, then the next two days were anytime, and the fourth day it was in the morning.  You could have caught the very beginning of the LH surge and the tail end.  To avoid confusion, do them at the same time (preferably in the afternoon) every day.  And actually, you're supposed to stop testing after the first positive OPK.  I know that hardly anyone actually does that, but it would help to avoid confusion as well.  Good luck!

Thanks for the replies!  I have been mainly using them at the same time each day, once in am, once in pm.  I wish I hadn't bought a huge bag of them thinking I could use them for a few months.  The 30 day expiration is doing nothing but adding fuel to my POAS addiction.

I had 4 days of + opk when I got pg with ds I Oed sometime in the evening of the 3rd day and got the 4th + the next morning. The one after that was neg. I also got negs between those + ones on the previous 3 days.

Well, it is a BFP for me too!  I think I Oed on the second or third day.  If I O'd on the day I got the first positive test, I'd be 10dpo.

Could use some opinions....I have endo (dx in 2008), had surgery to remove endo and went on to treat it by method of contious BC pills....through out this time is was very rare I ever had AF visit. It has been two months since discontinue use of BC pills, TTC for the past month for #1. Previous 1/14/11-1/20/11(didn't start testing at this point) and the Last cycle 3/5/11-3/16/11. I have started OPK...since my cycle has been a little irregular I first tested on CD23 and continued through CD 29 (all were negative). On CD 30, got my first post result and have up till today CD 33. We have been BD'ing before post result....been extra sure to do so these past days since CD30! Throughout this time I have been having cramping/pain right side and sometimes even on the left...not sure if it's safe to say if I have O'd yet since I am still postive as of today (4/6/11, tested twice today and both still VERY strong post results as were previous ones)!! OB would really like me to become preg ASAP to prevent endo from building back up/causing problems. I haven't started doing in temp readings, thought this was confusing enough for right now!! Any help would be much appreciated!! Thanks!!!praying.gif

My first cycle off BCP I ovulated on CD17, then my second cycle I ovulated on CD22. Now I'm not sure what to think as it's CD7 today and I've been getting pretty dark albeit negative OPK since CD3. I think my body is still resetting off BCP maybe yours is too?

Got my chart started.....! Maybe that is the case....It's only been two months since stopping BCP, and trying-trying since 3/2011.No AF thus far...but thinking at this point maybe its going to be irregular for a bit until all hormones from BCP are out. I had another post test today (CD 34)....it seems to be lightening up a "bit"....the past ones have been so dark-looked almost purple, think I will just stop testing, today is the only day we can't BD since hubby is out of town till tomorrow...........so I guess I will just wait (which I am already learning I hate)! When got the ok to start trying my OB said to give it 3 months and if no BFP still, to come back in! Best of luck to you!
