Just wanted to share, our homestudy is finally done, after 6 1/2 months! It's been 11 months since we started our training classes and paperwork, we did a LOT of waiting on our busy social worker, definitely took longer then we were expecting but there was joy in the waiting. We are even more prepared and eager to face the challenges ahead of us because of the time it's taken. We are going through a private agency to fost/adopt in Northern California. Now we just wait to be matched. With no warning, I woke up yesterday and said to myself, today is the day, our homestudy will be done, and it was! Even adoptive moms have intuition about these sorts of things. ;)

Are you going to have to redo anything? I think my agency made me redo stuff like physicals etc...very frustrating since it was their slowpoke pace that caused everything to expire anyway.
How wonderful!! We have done foster care for 14 plus kids and have adopted a sibling group of 3 (16-4). Foster care is such a wonderful and rewarding outreach. We focus on babies right now, but have taken care of all ages. We started with our 4 year old when he was 3 months old. over the last 3 1/2 year we brought in out 16 year boy a year later and our 5 year girl came two years ago. I was taking a year off of long term foster care and focused on respite care for other foster parents. We had a baby girl for 15 months before she moved to her grandma's house. She was the hardest one we lost, but we still have contact with her. My 4 kids are begging for babies again. And since we home school babies are easy to add to our days vs. public schools schedules, (which I did for three years with our oldest son!)
I think adoption is a wonderful adventure and fostering a great thing. There are so many kids who need loving homes!!
