I used the Barrie midwives when my second daughter was born for a home birth. The practice was professional, and the women were all very knowledgeable. Most had been practicing for some time. I had the opportunity to meet about 6 of the midwives in the practice as they did some shuffling with me the first month (some were leaving on vacation and another on mat leave I believe). I felt very comfortable with all of them, although one was a little high strung which doesn't really mesh with my personality well. I'm high strung myself, and I really felt better with the more relaxed, laid back women since I felt it balanced me out better. But I think this is a really personal thing.

My suggestion would be to go and meet them, and see how you feel. To me it was more important that I was with someone that I could speak with comfortably and really seemed to understand my needs. I felt that was the case with all of the midwives.

Janet delivered my daughter and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. She was supportive, understanding, and really helped to relax me. I had some fears due to my first birth, but she completely dissolved them. So I highly recommend the Barrie midwives. :)

I find that the Barrie midwives are a little "clinicy" more like a doctors off ice than Alliston...

I used the Alliston midwives and have only great things to say about them.  The level of professionalism and care is second to none.  I was so happy with everything from beginning to end.  They always took the time to listen to me and to get to know who I was...not just as a client but as a person.  The prenatal care was so good.  I never felt like I was asking silly questions and they were very thorough.  I never felt rushed through the appointment and they took their time with all visits.  My birthing experience with them was exactly what I had hoped for.  Also, when I came home from the hospital, the care was still outstanding.  They were available all the time to talk with me and answer questions about breastfeeding etc.  They came to my house for the first couple weeks which was so nice.  I didn't have to leave the house.  In the beginning we struggled a lot with breastfeeding and they were always willing to come over and help me out.  I am so thankful for the experience that I had with them and will definitely use them again for my future pregnancies.
