I used NuvaRing for approx. 5 years until just recently. My personal experience was that it was the least disruptive to mood swings/acne/weight gain than the other hormonal BC pills I had tried for the previous 4 years, and I liked that you don't have to worry about taking the pills every day. I know that people's reactions to hormonal BC always vary, though, and it could take time for your body to adjust to it. My period would usually take about 3-4 days after I took it out to show up, then it would be heavier for 1.5-2 days and then really light for 1.5-2 days more. Has yours started by now?

The only negative experience I had was over the past 6 months or so, I started having a lot of achniness in my pelvic area and it seemed to be coming from around my cervix. I was always suspicious that I wasn't getting the ring in correctly and that it was irritating the vaginal wall somehow (my doctor said that shouldn't happen but that's what it felt like!) and I took the ring out in frustration a few days before I was scheduled to. It's now been about three weeks and the aches seem to have subsided, and I am planning on leaving it out for good. I recently started reading about fertility awareness method and have been tracking my fertility with charts. Maybe if you are unhappy with your body's reaction to BC you might think about trying that method? The book I recommend is called Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler.

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!
