breastmilk only

My 14 month old will only take breastmilk.I haven't found anything that she will eat. She has acid reflux. I've been pumping since she was born using the Ameda Purely Yours Ultra pump and I have tons of milk. In fact I am dreding the engorgement/pain that will come with weaning but I am so tired of pumping. I would try anything to get her to eat. Right now we are in speech therapy! The dr acts like it isn't a big deal but it is to me!

hug2.gif I'm right there with you, except that my DD is a little younger. She's been in therapy with a speech language pathologist for 5 of her 11 months for feeding issues, and I work full-time so I'm forever tied to my Purely Yours as well. smile.gif How long has your little one been in therapy, and what challenges are you working through? Is she on meds for her reflux? Have you eliminated dairy from your diet? Does she nurse or are you exclusively pumping?

It's a challenging time to be sure, but fortunately your milk will be a huge help providing for her needs as you work through these other issues. And weaning from the pump can be done slowly and more comfortably, so I wouldn't fear it too much at this point. smile.gif

She has just started therapy. She is on prevacid(liquid the tablets that dissolve were awful) twice a day and the reflux is better. I exclusively pump because I got mastitis in both breasts and could not bear to let her nurse me. I had to give her a bottle and then she would not nurse me. She would cry and cry. I didn't want to force her and then have to give her a bottle again so I decided to pump. That was definitely a terrible time.

I don't mind pumping now its just I am so worried that she isn't eating. I mean how is it normal for her not to eat anything? I did eliminate dairy for a while but could not tell a difference. I worry about her getting the right nutrients now that she is so much older. Right now I am trying to wean her from the bottle but she hates different textures and that is hard. When they eat taking the bottle isn't a big deal. I have vacation time coming and I am just going to take it.

Have you found anything that your DD will eat? Is the therapy working?
