Not sure if this is the right forum....
We are looking at buying a house in a development about 200 meters from a tree farm. I have contacted the tree farm (part of a garden nursery company) and they were very honest with me about their spray schedule.
Our house would not be adjacent to their property, there are old growth trees and several other houses between us. They use low ground spray, don't spray on windy days etc, but they spray frequently (11 times a year approx.) Until they find a good organic spray, they said they have to use what they have (they did give me the names)
Our development sits on land previously owned by them, but the developer would have had to do soil testing before building (trying to find out the results - waiting for a call back)
The water is city water I believe - it's on the edge of a small town.
We're going to go ahead and do another soil test on the property if we need to, but it's VERY expensive!
We wouldn't consider it, except it really is our dream home/location. It's backs onto old growth forest (not near the tree farm), huge lot size, trail system through the forest, beautiful little town etc etc.
I'm guessing it would be better than living next to a farm that sprayed, and being on well water...but I'm a gardner and want an organic garden. Although I guess if I did raised boxes it might not be a problem.....?
Would you live there? Depending on soil sample results or not?
