Summertime UCers, let's take a roll call/ have a chat thread! - Page 3

I know I realized the other day I really only have 10 weeks left, most likely.  I remember starting to panic a little last time at about this point about getting everything done I needed to do before the baby came.  Getting a little of that this time too but I keep telling myself that I will get it all done!  I'm 29 weeks now and Jackson came at 38.5 weeks so, yeah.  And I've been getting lots of b-h this week.  So I am going to try to work on my h2o intake.  We were on vacation last week so I am sure I didn't drink enough water.

I don't think this baby is head down yet, which I was really nervous about at first but after doing some meditations and reading I am feeling ok with it.  If baby needs to come breech, he/she will I guess.  And I know there is still lots of time for baby to turn , too :)  Jackson was always head down so this wasn't even a concern in my first pregnancy.

The big thing for me to do this week is get some birth supplies ordered.  I've got to figure out what I need and get it on the way. I would also like to get some emergency instructions printed for my dh, just in case.  And I've got a lot of work to do in my garden!! :)

I wish my babies liked to come early! I expect I have 15-17 more weeks to go still. My family likes to cook babies extra long!

Thanks for mentioning birthwithlove.com I hadn't been there yet, their prices are good!

I read somewhere that 1st babies usually get head down about 28wks but that subsequent babies don't until about 32wks.

I'm 28wks now & I know this girl (my 4th) has been happily breech the entire time.  For now I'm trying to enjoy the low movement instead of the high near-rib kicks that are sure to come....

I cannot believe I'm in my 3rd trimester now.  The 1st two seemed to drag by but I know now I'm going to blink & she'll be here!  I'm *so* not ready!!!

I love seeing so many other UC mamas due around the same time I am, and so many of you having your 3rd, 4th, etc. baby!  Nice to know I'm not the only one who's going to have 4 under 5 yrs old!  ;)

My baby kept moving from breech to transverse for weeks.  Finally at 32 weeks went head down.  I am pretty sure she is staying put (at 34 weeks now).  I never really panicked since I kept reading she had time still to turn and it being baby #6 there was obviously plenty of room but still breathed a sigh of relief when midwife I am shadow caring with said head down now:)

I ordered from Birthwithlove last two times.  Great experience.  Just slightly cheaper than inhishands.  I hear good things about both but have only used birthwithlove.  Excellent communication from the company when needed, super friendly.

I don't know if I'll end up UC, but I hope y'all don't mind me participating on this thread.  I'll try to keep some of my non-UC tendencies (LoL!) to myself.  I love UCers and majorly want to be one.

I'm due around the end of June . . . which makes me think it'll be a July baby though I swear something (or God?) told me last night this is a June baby.  I'm so glad to read that many of you have had flippy babies in the early 3rd tri.  I don't really feel my baby changing from breech to transverse to vertex and posterior, but I know that's the case.  Kicks are high . . . they're low . . they're in the middle . . . big baby hard spots are up top or they're sometimes in the middle and other times I feel a big huge mass of baby down low.  It's been freaking me out a bit.  Trying to be accepting but it's hard when you've been cut open due to malpresentation.

If babe ends up breech . . . I'll have some thinking to do.  No OB or MW here would touch that.  I'd probably do a frank breech unassisted but am not so sure I'm comfy with footling.  I guess we shall see!

:D

ps - why is MDC so "laggy" so much of the time.  It's ANNOYING!!!!!!!!!

I'm 29wks as of Monday and I'm also worried that I'm not gonna get everything done that I wanted to. I've also been having BHs and my feet are starting to swell which makes me worry my dates may be a little off, as I usually don't have any of these symptoms until my last month. Wondering at times if this little lady is head down on some days and feet down on others, but I'm not really worried about it now, she still a little time to practice cartwheels.

Also, I've been considering what to do with my older kids while in labor. I have a 1yo, 2yo, 4yo, 10yo and 11yo. I would love for them to be at home in another part of house but my youngest are still very clingy to DH and myself. so, that might pose a problem. It's getting so, so, so hot these days I don't know how I'm going to deal with this heat in the next couple of months and its 10 times worse when you're preggo. I told DH to be prepared because I may just birth naked. These are currently my only worries. I'm looking forward to birth and hope u ladies are too!!

Hi Mamas! I'm new to MDC (joined specifically for the UC forumwink1.gif) and this will be my 1st UC.

This is my second pregnancy - ds is 6 and very excited about being a big brother! My first delivery was in a hospital. I was induced 3 days after my due date and stayed in labor for 9 hrs. I wasn’t allowed to eat, drink or walk around. It took the anesthesiologist 5 tries to get my epidural in the right way, and when he did I still felt every single contraction!! The icing on the cake was not being to wipe myself after using the bathroom. It really irritated me to have a nurse kneeling beside the toilet while I went potty and then reach her hand between my legs and wipe my bottom as if I were a baby.

Since then I have taken on a naturopathic way of life and look forward to being in complete control of my next birth. I'm only on week 17, so I still have a long way to go! I look forward to talking with and learning from you all!

Welcome Ayanna! Even though I'm a newbie myself in a way, hehe.

Well that is good to know about first vs second babies.  I never heard that before.  Baby may be head down now, but this one is very active and seems to turn and flip a lot.  And I don't enjoy the low kicks, it is such a weird sensation. But yeah, it is nice not to have feet up under my ribs.

I am starting to have some of the same fears from last time, basically related to my dh not being on board with a uc.  If he will be upset if I don't call him in time for the birth, or if he will freak out if he is there.  I keep running scenarios in my head trying to think if all the different outcomes and how to deal with them, which is helping.  Also trying to let go and trust everything will work out for the best, whatever happens.  And just visualizing the ideal situation coming to life.

I also am not sure what to do with my older child during my uc.  He is 3.  Just starting to love hanging out with daddy, so that should be helpful for distracting him and dh at least in the early stages.  I remember last time I didn't really need/want him to do anything for me until the very end when he was so sweet encouraging me to push (we were in hospital, long forced pushing stage) and telling me I could do it. :D  But really I am envisioning the birth happening at night and he will be asleep.  My only fear is what would happen if for some reason we have to get to hospital fast, what to do?  I suppose we would just have to throw him in the car real quick.  I don't have anyone who lives close who could just come over at the drop of a hat to take care of him.  Dh says it will work out but he is thinking we will call someone/drop him off somewhere before we go at a leisurely pace to the hospital or take him with us and have someone come pick him up.  But... I suppose that should work either way.  What are other people's plans?

@ Firecat:

My 4 and 2 year old will be staying home during the birth. I want them there and there isn't anywhere for them to go anyway as we don't do daycare, babysitters or have any real friends or family where we currently live. It'll be just us.

I expect it should be fine though and I'm grateful my hubby is 100% on board with an UC.

Kind of hoping that I'll have this baby at night so the twins are asleep.  My 6 yo is welcome to come and go as she pleases.  If I'm in strong labor during the day, we'll probably send the twins to daycare.  I think they'll even watch them for us if its a weekend, but I'm not sure . . .

Hi! I am due at the end of July this will be my 5th child and first UC and I am so excited!!!! I have learned so much from the mothering community!

Oh I would love to join this thread! Mt husband and I are expecting #1 in September (it's Los Angeles...definitely still summer in September smile.gif). I always thought I'd have a midwife attend homebirth, got pregnant waaaaayyyyyy sooner than we expected, and so financially that's not an option. I had sort of come to terms with a midwife attended hospital birth, until I had a full on panic attack over the thought of it, and realized I simply can't leave the house. We've hired a wonderful doula, and I've been researching like a maniac, and am feeling super powerful and capable of doing this! My husband asked only that we get one u/s so he can have some peace of mind that Chicken Little is developing normally (I hate u/s and initially planned on not having any), but otherwise has been very supportive. I am a bit freaked about the u/s which happens May 11, but my hmo midwife promised to keep it under 5 minutes! I'm a CLE, planning to BF as long as baby will let me...cloth diapering (all advice is very welcome)...limited vaxing ( my family is in Latin America and this baby will be a traveler)...attachment parenting minded!

Hello Ladies!! I am new here, to the u/c area at least. Been lurking for a bit. I am currently pg  with #3, due early Sept.  This will be my 2nd HB and 1st UC/UP. I was going to have prenatal care through a birth center locally but they are closing, and I am moving next month anyways. We are moving to my hometown, where my mom lives. There is no other options other than hosp or uc as far as I know. I am 22wks tomorrow,(5/2/11).  We did do one u/s to determine gender, it's a boy! We have 2 dd's now. I feel very confident for the most part about the birth but worried dh is going to miss it as he will be working 2hrs away until the fall.He will be home on the wknds though.  (My first birth was 8hrs, start to finish, and 2nd was 4.5hrs) So I know I can call my mom if he's not home but it's the little things, like getting the pool set up and taking care of the kids and dealing with the after stuff that he would be dealing with normally. I am using the hypnobirthing cd's this time too.

welcome ladies :)

dayiscoming : well I think just writing it all out and thinking it through helped me :)  I am sure it will all be fine.  We have a few people we could call to come and get him/stay with him if it was really necessary but right now I am planning to labor and probably birth with him there.

For weeks now Its been in the back of my conscience that I could possibly give birth to a premie for the first time after 5 births. Reasons being, my body is telling me I'm further along than I think. I'm only 32wks but baby has dropped, feet are swollen (which usually doesn't happen until the very end for me), BHs are more frequent than before. So I decided to get a ultrasound today just to determine gestational age and as it turns out I'm actually 35wks. I'm so happy & excited that I'll meet this LO sooner than I thought.

Hello, :)

My name is Callie, I'm 20 and this is my second child (and gonna be my second UC). He/She is due July 27. I'm really excited about doing another UC, because when I had my first baby I was 16 and that was the best experience of my life. I do however, have a midwife that will come postpartum to give the baby and I a checkup. She's the same amazing midwife that did that for me the first time and she's great! Totally doesn't mind doing all the paperwork for me which is why I really want her hehehe!

Good luck to all of you!

With my first UC I was very happy that I birthed as my big kids slept

This time I wanted the same just did not go to plan

My husband was at work and my 4 kids were in the house (two in their room and my eldest and my youngest were with me)

My eldest was very helpful filling the pool and keeping it warm

She kept her distance while I birthed but I know she was uber curious of what was happening

I don't think I could have another baby now

The uncertainity! Would drive me crazy, it almost did this time

I guess 5 kids is enough, right?
