Washing hands questions

4 yo dd will not wash her hands independently if hot and cold water have to be mixed so after using the bathroom she won't even bother wiping herself. This was the case all winter. Now that the weather's warming up she is wiping sometimes followed by washing in cold water. Just wondering how she is going to manage in school (she'll be starting prek this fall) because she certainly doesn't know how to mix the water and is v. anxious even when we help that the water might be too hot.

My 4 year old doesn't like water that's very hot either, so I just let him wash with cold.  I figure cold water plus soap is better than no washing at all.

The water at school won't get very hot at all - and a lot of bathroom sinks just have one temp, with no way to adjust it.  I bet she'll do as the others do at school, and not give it much thought when it's time to wash hands.
