Mid-cycle spotting and freaked out. An update..BFP!

So, I am an absolute max of 5 dpo, and I am having bright red spotting (just a little).  We didn't even BD until 6 days ago for the first time this month, my temps are off due to co-sleeping, and I got four positive OPKs in a row Sunday through Wednesday and then negative yesterday and today.  So, I don't really know when I ovulated.

I am on CD 18 and I have not had mid-cycle bleeding before.  My periods are really all over the board from 24 to 31 days, but never this early.  I feel really weird, like I did when I was pregnant with my son, but on the other hand, I am also really scared that something is wrong because I know mid-cycle bleeding is not normal outside of implantation.  I have also heard that implantation bleeding is later in the cycle than 5 dpo and isn't bright red.  It isn't a lot or anything, but it is definitely there.

Has anyone had implantation spotting that is bright red?  Or this early??   Also, has anyone had mid-cycle bleeding that was not related to implantation, and what was it??  Thanks in advance.

When I  got pregnant on accident a few years back, I had implantation bleeding (or at least bleeding similar to what you're describing) relatively early too and it continued a few weeks after I got positive on my pregnancy test. It was bright red but only a little amount, and my doctor said that's normal for some women. I would wait to see if you can test positive for being pregnant and then if you're still having spotting, get in to see a doc right away, at least just to soothe your fears.

(And just to allay any fears, the pregnancy ended but it wasn't because of my body being wonky, etc and was a medical malpractice issue/the doctor's fault. Just don't want you to see I'm TTC "#1" and get worried!)

Sithladyfred--thank you for your reply!  I am sorry for your loss :(.  I am hoping it is just implantation spotting, but having had short LPs, I am also worried I have low progesterone.  I spotted the entire first trimester with #1.  I have asked about having my progesterone checked in the past and drs have blown me off.

Ooh, I can see how you'd be concerned about low progesterone! And it seriously frustrates me how common it is to be blown off by the doctor when you have serious and well-founded concerns. I swear it's like some of them just not only expect women to be out of touch with their bodies but are almost defensive/annoyed when that's just not the case!

If this isn't a BFP are you going to try to get your progesterone checked? If being assertive and firm doesn't work I wonder if they could refer you to someone else or else if you could do some googling/research to find a more sensitive doctor?

Hopefully you'll get to the bottom of this!

Hi Sithladyfred--thanks again for your reply :).  I totally TOTALLY agree about doctors.  It is annoying.  I did schedule an apt for next Friday which is the soonest I can get in and I am going to beg and plead for them to check my progesterone BFP or BFN.  I am on the fourth day of spotting now.... It is making me really worried :(.

So, just updating so when others go searching the database like I have been obessively doing the past few days they see how things turned out.  I am somewhere between 7 and 10 dpo today (probably 8) and have had five days of spotting--red, pink, and some brown.  Some days it has been quite a bit, like yesterday, but today, BFP!

Congratulations!

Thanks for the update. It certainly is frustrtating when ou'r elooking for people who have had your concerns before, you find the perfect thread and perfect question to match, and then the story ends! The question was never answered, and there was no update. So, thanks!

Thanks RosieL!  Yes, it is so frustrating!  Have had it happen several times so I try to check back in.
