think I am miscarrying...do I need to call dr. or go to ER?

My partner and I foudn out a couple weeks ago we were pregnant with a third.  I am now 7 weeks 4 days and have had 2 days of heavy bleeding.  I hadn't even called the OB to schedule an appt.  So now that I believe I might be miscarrying...do I just ride it out?  see physician?  ER (it is 8:30 at night).  I hadn't even considered an ectopic pregnancy--what would be symptoms?  I have no pregnancy symptoms--haven't really had any except mild fatigue--w/ our first two I was exhausted, nauseos, sore breasts, etc. from 6 weeks to 13 weeks.  I'm wondering what to do...

Oh, I had a positive pregnancy test 10 days ago.  Haven't got another yet--

I'm so terribly sorry for your loss.  At that early in your pregnancy, there is nothing that a doctor or ER could do for you.  I would just stay home, rest, and drink plenty of fluids.  Take care!

I'm so very sorry.  I have suffered several miscarriages myself so I know how scary and sad it is.  Personally, I have never sought medical care but mine have all been fairly straight forward.  Are you having any cramping?  How heavy is the bleeding?  Does your doctor have an after hours line you can call?  I might be inclined to visit the ER just to rule out anything like an ectopic.

Good luck and I will be crossing my fingers that the bleeding is nothing to be concerned about.

I experienced pretty heavy bleeding between 6 weeks and 10 weeks (multiple episodes) and went to the ER each time.  Unfortunately, there's nothing they can do except an ultrasound to see if baby is still okay.  I would go at least once to rule out ectopic pregnancy.  That's one of those things that can do serious damage by the time the warning signs appear.

I hope everything is ok with you.  My son was fine and he's now a happy healthy 12 month old.  The nurses I spoke to told me that bleeding early in pregnancy is actually pretty common.  I had bleeding from sex, exercise and sometimes for no reason whatsoever.
