Family friendly restaurants in/near Providence (Federal Hill)

I need a place to take my son for lunch every other Saturday (after his doc appointments.)  His appts are on Federal Hill (Providence).

I do have some food restrictions/issues that we have to deal with (my son has to have french fries when eating out or he has a meltdown. Plus, I'm allergic to shellfish.)

I'm looking at any of the following areas:  Providence (but not the mall); East Side; Edgewood.

Any ideas?  We are supposed to meet a friend for lunch today but we have no idea where to go!

Thanks!

I think we're going to go to:

LJ's BBQ (East Ave, Pawtucket).  It's in in a plaza in the Oak Hill section (East Side).

I went to Andino's for lunch when DD was about 7 months. I don't know how kid friendly they are, but I remember my teenaged sister getting french fries with her lunch.

We are going to try Garden Grille (Oak Hill) next time.  And next to that is a vegan bakery.

Yum, vegan bakery:)

How was lunch?

I had a REALLY good mushroom burger.  I was surprised at how good it was.  The fries were gross, though.

Red Stripe, on Angell St. in Wayland Square, has great fries, and a large variety of stuff.

CASERTA PIZZA!

Ok sorry to scream but this is some of the best pizza around.  We make a monthly pilgrimage from the South Shore. Yum.

Heard about Red Stripe but was told it's not a place for young kids.

Pizza- My son doesn't eat it.  greensad.gif

I've taken my 1 year old and 4 year old to Red Stripe quite a few times.  It's definitely a step up from Johnny Rocket's on Thayer St. (another possibility for you!), but I've seen plenty of kids there.

Hope St Pizza is actualy a greek restaurant w yummy food (inc fries of course! and lots of choices other than pizza) and super kid-friendly.  From fed hill, take 95 north to branch ave, right from the exit,  left on n main, right on rochambeau, and left on hope.  it is soon after, on your left.

Thanks KT!  Perfect area!  (is that near the toy store?)

Tortilla Flats (corner of Hope and Olney) has Mexican, fries, burgers, some Creole food, good atmosphere...  Also, if you like falafel, East Side Pockets (Thayer St., near Brown) has great middle eastern food, good fries, it's kind of a fast food atmosphere for eating though.

I've been to Garden Grille many times....I don't think they serve french fries. Yeah, LJ's has gross fries, but their pulled pork and Sunday Brunch menu are out of this world!

Spike's Junkyard Dogs on Branch Ave. is amazing if you're into hot dogs. They also have subs, chicken sandwiches, salads, wings, chili....you can check out their menu here. The hot dogs are 100% beef and they bake their own bread daily.

Great, now I'm hungry....

Yeah, I found out the hard way that they don't have fries.  I'll make note of the Sunday brunch (if I ever get to move to RI!)

Thanks for all the replies!
