not sure what I am thinking on this one

I just bought the most beautiful laceweight yarn because the colour is perfect and the yarn was on sale. I amplanning to make a Featherweight cardigan with it - 1400 yds of stockinette stitch with ultra fine yarn. I know the FO will be beautiful and I will love it forever but that is a lot of plain knitting!!

I have a few heavier weight sweaters on needles right now that I should finish up before beginning the Featherweight. I suppose finishing them while the weather is still cool is a good idea and I have all summer to knit (and knit and knit and knit) my lace yarn.

Has anyone else knit a Featherweight? How did it go?

You are brave, mama!  My goodness the thought of doing that myself would never even cross my mind! lol.gif

Progress pics when you start, okay?

This made me laugh since I just bought about 1600 yds of merino/silk lace yarn for the same project lol!  I have yet to cast on for mine either, and have contemplated using a fingering wt yarn I have on hand as well.  I've never used lace weight, and I guess I'm intimidated.  As you said, though, I know the finished product will be gorgeous and I want it!!!

I've been finishing up baby items that I have planned, and will probably start on the cardi the begininng of May.   It may end up taking the ENTIRE summer to knit up, though............

I don't have a needle in the right size that I like using with this yarn - I like needles with very pointy tips with such a fine yarn. It may wait a little longer as we have had some unexpeted major expenses this week and I can't splurge for a new circular needle right now.

I did the Whisper, and have yarn for the Featherweight for my mom.  I haven't gotten to it yet, as the yarn I have is a bit lighter than laceweight and I have to de-cone it to knit with it. LOL

The Whisper took a while, but it is one of my favorite sweaters.

What yarn did you get?

Viola Fancy Lace - it is a blend of silk, cashmere and alpaca. The price was amazing and it is my favourite shade of purple. I know it will be my go to cardigan when I get it made.

I have not knit the Featherweight, it is in my queue, but I am working on a sweater in fingering weight yarn. It is taking me FOREVER.  I have learned that I am not one to knit just for a cute end product. I need to be challenged and enjoy what I am working on. If you love to knit, just to knit, then I don't think it will be an issue you will have a lovely sweater at the end.

I'm finishing up my ufos and then co Paper Dolls by Kate Davies. I love the whisper, but the thought of gazillions of purl stitches turned me off.

yikes! I knit a hair wrap with lace weight on size 5 needles last year, and I thought THAT took forever! Wish I had the motivation and ability to commit like you, wink1.gif

That is what I am trying to knit right now. St st is soooo boring. The color work is really fun, but there is soo much boring in between, lol.

My lifestyle is not conducive to lace right now. (Although I did pick up this winter's knitscene and want a lace raglan from it. . . and the spring interweave has some nice lacy patterns)

I like st st because I can take it anywhere - park, backyard, playgroup, coffee with friends. There's so many shawls I would love to knit but with two three year olds, I need to be able to set a project down at any moment!

Are you doing dolls or something else for the yoke?

Sorry Shantimama, this has been totally hijacked.

I agree, there are a few lace patterns from the new Interweave Knits that I would like to try.

I am doing the Dolls on the yoke. I was hoping to love knitting this pattern because there are so many cute charts out there that you can use in place of the dolls.
