Wool pillow to replace feather/down?

I currently have an old feather (95%)/down (5%) queen sized bed pillow. Even though I fluff and flip/rotate nightly, it is very flat -- not more than 2" high when pressing my hand down on it. I mostly sleep on my stomach, with some side sleeping. The polyfill pillows are okay, but jack my head up too high, which can lead to neck cramps. The down side of my flat pillow, is that sometimes it feels too hard on my cheekbone and ear. I would like a flat firm pillow which was a little more gentle on me, without the feeling that it is trying to push my head away from the mattress, if that makes any sense.

The latex pillows aren't too bad, but I don't like the heat. It is bad enough in the summer with our latex over spring mattress. The last thing I want is a hot pillow. For that reason, I am ruling out the shredded latex pillows.

I have been reading a lot about the wool pillows, but am torn between the eco-wool batting style versus the wooly bola style. It seems the batting gives the flat result, whereas the wooly gives the polyfill -- is this right? The advantage I see of the bola is that I can add/subtract fill with a zippered cover, and that it may be washable, which would be a plus, as any of my old feather pillows really turn yellow after a number of years, despite the use of 3 layers of pillow cases over the cover.

Is the batting filled what I need to get for a firm, flat pillow? Or can I get a bola filled and remove fill to make it lighter, until I get the height I want, yet still have some comfort?

Thank you.

I have had a wool bola pillow (bought from Organic Grace) for about three weeks now and love it.  I also had a down pillow for about 10 years and it was just way too flat now.  You can wash down and feather pillows on delicate and then dry on low heat -- it takes hours to dry though.

I am a side sleeper and I get too hot when I sleep so I knew latex wouldn't work for me.  The wool has a bit of bounce to it so it doesn't hurt my head.  When my down pillow started making my neck and back hurt because it was too thin I used my dh's feather pillow and it helped my back but it was so hard it made my head hurt.  The wool is a good mix of the two.  The one I have I am able to move the wool around in the pillow and make it thinner or thicker where I'm laying too.  I haven't tried the regular wool pillow yet, I'll probably be ordering that for my 9 yo dd who always sleeps on her stomach.
