Parenting card of the day/week:

I am the proud owner of a stack of parentingcards. I keep them in my purse, and draw one when I feel I need a reminder on how to be respectful/GD/whatever to my child. Some of these cards have been really eyeopening, some are more "yeah, I know that". But over all, I really like them. So, I wanted to draw a random card, and see if we could get a nice discussion going about it. Here is todays random card:

Your child may have the solution.

Where did you get the parenting cards?  I think I need those.

I've been trying to hang on to this one for awhile now. I do think my child may have the solution a lot of the time, but, most often, she can't calm herself enough to string half a thought together. She's too busy having a complete fit because, for example, Papa has asked her not to stand on her chair in front of the frying pan while he cooks! How do you work to help your child calm themselves enough to offer a solution and/or help you come up with one, or even enough to think about a parent-offered solution?

I've never heard of parenting cards, and think they're brilliant! Where did you get them? What other sorts of things are on them?

I will be using this later today b/c my son has too many lego sets and not enough space on his bookshelf to display them.  My solution is to pick the favorites and put the others in bags w/ their instructions but he doesn't want to put any away.  Hopefully we can come up with something we both can live with:)

I bought them trough The Natural Child Project. smile.gif

I struggle with this sometimes. I catch myself trying to solve things, trying to "help" my child when I should be listening instead. Often, he just needs some time to think, and he will come up with a good solution by himself.
