8 Month old with cold/cough. Anything else we can do?

DD2 is 8 months and has a nasty cold/cough.  We gave DD1 lots of asorbic acid and elderberry and she is doing much better now.  Poorly little baby is SO congested and her cough is really terrible.  I'm starting to worry about her a little bit.  She is nursing, I put garlic on her feet at night, the humidifier in her room, we go the bathroom and steam it up a few times a day.  Is there anything else we can do for her or give her?

can I actually recommend products on here? I am not sure- but we recently went through a horrible cough thing, my ds is 12 months- he had it for 2 weeks straight ( I had it for 3). I finally found this product :

which is designed for kids and for wet coughs. They also had one for dry coughs. Ds's cough was very very mucousy and wet. So I looked up the ingredients in this and one of them was an expectorant, and another was  an anti muscle spasm type, all herbs. And anyway- we tried it- on the bottle it gave a recommended dose for babies- so I figured it was safe. We have him 3 or 4 doses in 2 or 3 days, and it started clearing up. then one day he had kind of a big spit up of mucousy stuff and then got very quickly better.

now that I look at it it does say not for use under 1 yr- so I guess that would be a judgement call- ds is just one year, he was a few wks under one yr when we used it-

I would have a professional listen to her lungs. Breathing problems can get serious very quickly and if she is someone who may have asthma or reactive airway disease, the warm steam could actually exacerbate the problem.

She is doing MUCH better today.  I would maybe feel comfortable with the cough syrup if her gut were better but we are dealing with food allergies so I don't want to push it.  I think she is on the mend!  Thank you!
