Poem about wanting a wife

Thread Starter

Hi everyone!

I read a poem once many years ago in an Eng Lit class written by a woman, who was talking about how she "wanted a wife" to do all the various mundane things that a house wife does, so she wouldn't have to do them herself.

Does anyone know this poem? What is the name of it and the author? TIA!

I don't know who wrote it, but I know the one you mean!

Edited to add, I found it:

Not a poem, but an essay, from 1970.

Periodically I grumble that I want a wife and my knuckle-head husband says he'd be very happy to oblige and find me one. eyesroll.gif

aaaaaaaah i remember this essay and the tongue in cheek tone. i had no idea she had read it in public. :)

i say this all the time. i really DO need a wife. not a husband.

i dont see why i should not with changing times.

i am better at doing 'husband' things.
