First Licensing Visit Since DD's Adoption Coming Up Soon

My daughter's adoption finalized in November and I thought that we'd had all the "firsts" covered. We haven't had a social services home visit since late summer and I'd kind of forgotten about those. LOL. My licensing social worker transferred to a different position and I just got a call from the new one. She's coming for a home visit on Friday and for the first time, my DD doesn't need to be here. The kids are on Spring Break, though, so they will be at home.

I "think" I'm going to let her know that we're ready for an infant placement. I "think." I know that DS (6) wants us to have a baby and I'm pretty sure that DD (4) would like one, too. Eeek, our lives will definitely change, though. I haven't had a baby in the house since DD was one.

Thats great. I'm really torn between getting social workers out of our lives, and wanting to maintain my license and get a new baby eventually.

What about the twins? Have you let that situation go? I was really hoping you'd be able to get them. :(

I've been lucky and have had really wonderful experiences with my department's social workers and really everyone at DSS. I think I'm ready to work with them again but my life will obviously really change. It's so easy to just pick up and go when your kids are as "old" as mine are.  I'll see what my new licensing worker thinks when she comes out.

I'm also going to talk with her about P's baby siblings. At this point, I'm going to try for sibling visitation. I can't legally bring two more children here. I rent and only have a two bedroom townhouse. The rule is two people per bedroom and I know that my condo association would enforce that even if my landlords might not. A friend had to move from here when she and her DH gave birth to their third child. I'm not in a position to move right now. And I wouldn't want to break up a set of twins even if social services in both counties would allow it. They are about an hour from here. I think I'm going to push for sibling visits and then hopefully continue them after their adoption. I'm assuming, as is social services, that TPR is going to happen. Birth mom and dad definitely can't parent.

So...that's my current thinking. Which might change at any moment.

My licensing visit was postponed until Tuesday afternoon which isn't a bad thing. I'm starting to get nervous. And exciting. I need a new infant seat and a new crib mattress and... LOL.
