What do you do for drool rash?

DS3, 7 months, has a major drool rash underneath his chin.  It looks really bad.  I've been putting a thin layer of cocoa butter under his chin....and keep changing drool catching bibs on him.. but other than that, I haven't done much.

What are your favorite remedies?

How about some coconut oil? It has been working wonders when DD gets a diaper rash.

My daughter got really chapped on her chin from the mixture of drool and cold dry air when we were visiting my parents in Chicago for the holidays. I used California Baby calendula cream and it worked great. I found it best to apply right before a nap b/c then it would stay on for awhile and have a chance to soak in, since she wasn't drooling while she slept. It was pretty expensive ($13) but we use it all the time and the jar is still half full 3 months later.

I second the California Baby calendula cream.  I use it every day (sometimes multiple time a day) on DD's cheeks (it's great on my face, too!).  :)

My little guy is a big drooler, and ended up getting a big rash under his chin.  The best thing that worked for us was to use my nipple cream (pure lanolin).  It was a great moisture barrier, kept the skin moist, but best of all, did not rub off easily.  That being said, make sure babe's wearing a cloth bib or something to protect clothing.  Good luck!

I was just about to recommend pure lanolin! My DD#2 was a huge drooler until about 6 months. She went through at least 4 or 5 bibs a day. We used lanolin on her chin and neck and tried to keep her dry. In truth, it looked painful, but it didn't hurt her at all.
