spina bifida occulta

Hi everybody,

I have a one year old daughter. Last night while changing her I noticed a fatty hairy lump in the middle of her back. She was also born with a sacral dimple, that her pediatrician said is normal anatomy (well, google says this is sign of sbo). I am pretty sure she does have sbo, I will take her to the doctor, but her dr is useless and until I find another ped I can trust I want to make sure I am not wasting precious time. Baby starting walking with support for more than 50 feet at 8 months old. Now, at 1, she barely wants to walk (also by holding her hands) more than 5-6 feet at once. For a while I just thought she is just lazy and likes to crawl. Now, I am obviously afraid this is due to some neurological problem due to sbo. I was just wondering if anyone went through this and how things evolved.

Thank you!

I wish I had something more to contribute.  My 4yo dd has a dimple, but has had no developmental problems that we've noticed.  She was born at 34w6d and her dimple was closed, so they just kept an eye on her, but nothing has come of it.

You might want to ask for a pediatrician recommendation in the Finding Your Tribe section.  All of the recos I've gotten here have been fabulous.
