Loud 7 month old

My 7 month old recently started becoming very loud. Not screaming or crying but just random loud hollers. At first we thought it was just vocalization and pre-talk, but its continuing unabated. He seems happy and will quickly go from hollering to laughing.

I've tried varying scenery and toys around him or moving him from tummy to back or to pack and play to holding. Nothing is a sure bet and I don't want to reinforce the "if I scream, someone will come hold me" thing at this age. Otherwise, he eats well, sleeps through the night and has no other major issues. He was diagnosed with reflux at 3 mos but seems to have passed that stage (or I thought). He is no longer getting meds for the reflux or gas drops.

I have limited baby experience. Is this common for babies at this age to experiment verbally this way? Should I reconsider the reflux meds even if the other symptoms have disappeared? Any other larger issues I may need to be concerned about?

Most people will call it "finding his voice", it's normal. If he doesn't seem in pain, it's likely he's just testing his new abilities out. My son still does it occasionally, usually when we are somewhere we are supposed to be quiet.

I agree, I'd say it's totally normal.  In fact, DH says he can always tell if there is a 7 month old close by because of the familiar squeaks and squeals.  Imagine how fascinating it is for them to realize they have control over the volume of their voice!

Totally normal. Actually, my 11 month old is doing it right now, ironically enough, in between fits of hysterical giggling!
