Mec and CD

What are the tricks to getting rid of meconium stains on CDs?  I'm toying with starting right at the beginning instead of waiting for the mec to disappear before starting - or is it really not worth the extra effort?  Summer won't be too far off from this, so sun could be an option (albeit, possibly a month or 2 before we get a strong enough blast of it!).  It would be unbleached indian cotton prefolds, and the premie ones, so not ones I'll be using for long.  Is the issue with mec the staining, or is it more difficult to get the diaper clean in the first place?  DD was over a month old before I started CDing with her, so I have no idea!

Mec comes out easier than BF poop stains! orngbiggrin.gif Though both respond very well to good ol' sunshine. smile.gif Go ahead and use those CDs from the start!

I am planning on doing cloth this time from the hospital so have been looking into the same thing. What I keep finding is that it washes out of cotton with out fuss. Polyester fleece is trickier, but with prefolds go for it.

Thanks for the responses!  I guess I'll use the prefolds from day 1 this time!  I might aim to keep the pockets and fitteds until the mec is gone.

I made some liners from recieving blankets cut up with pinking sheers to use in my fitteds just in case.
