Has anyone read this? Â I'm looking for something to help prepare my 2yo DD for our upcoming homebirth. Â I have a hold on "welcome with love" at the local library; haven't found a copy to purchase yet. Â I'm also wondering as I thought of buying more than one copy to give to a few people, but wanted some reviews on it first! Â

the book "we're having a homebirth"
I have not read that book, but recently prepared my 3 & 5 yo's for my Jan 2011 homebirth. I showed them videos of homebirths: my first one (I will share if you pm me), some online on utube (screen first), and some from the midwife. There was a momma on here once that shared a book she wrote.
Â
We also played birth. We talked about labor noises, and how mommy isn't really hurting, that it is different than pain from a boo-boo. Also, how there would be some blood that was just the baby's nest in my tummy coming out, and Mommy wasn't in pain from the blood. There was no need to worry, and that birth is a normal part of life.
Â
The kids put dolls in their shirts, made labor grunts, and "gave birth" by pulling the babies down and out. Then I would say "Oh Congratulations on your new baby!! What will you name her?" etc. etc. They LOVED this game.
Â
Congrats Mama, I wish you the best!

I'm trying to find it too...I've also started compiling a list of internet links to videos we can watch with my son, who's 3.5 years old. So far, I haven't had much luck finding where to order it from (in Canada).
Â
ETA: I actually did find a Canadian online store (and an actual store if you live in Toronto) that sells all kinds of parent books, including books for siblings (and the one mentioned in the OP as well). Not sure if that helps you, OP, but they've got a great list! http://www.parentbooks.ca/Siblings.html

Oh, and as for "Welcome with Love"...it's not published in North America anymore. If you're looking for a used copy, you might also find it under the title "Hello Baby!"

Thanks stiss.  That's a lovely list!  I had found comments that Welcome with Love/Hello Baby was out of print.  I'll keep my eyes open for used copies, but won't count on it.  Hopefully it will be available at the library at some point in the next few months!  I did order "We're having a Homebirth".  Just one copy for now.  I ordered it directly from the writer ... http://www.homebirthchildrensbook.com/.  If you want, I can let you know what we think of it after it arrives.  DD is just 2 though, and isn't all that patient with allowing the words to be read before flipping pages!  Still, I thought it was a good idea!
Updating for those interested. Â I got a copy of "Welcome with Love" from the library today and am quite happy with it. Â I think it's an excellent book outlining a homebirth. Â I also got the copy of "We're Having a Homebirth" today (guess it's a book day!), and am also very happy with it. It's soft cover and rather small and short, but the words are wonderful. Â I would definitely recommend both if anyone is interested. Â It really is too bad that Welcome with Love/Hello Baby is so hard to find in print.
