Starting at Tandem Nursing

Thread Starter

I am 34 weeks, and Monkey is 26 months. He has been nursing all along and is thrilled that my supply is back up this past fortnight. He really loves his nanas and has proven to be adaptable to my needs (positions, not using a lazy latch, time limits for sore nipples). He prefers to nurse on one side and pat the other. He is down to only a handful of nursings a day and always in my bed or the computer chair.

Now I am starting to think about how this is going to work once the baby is here and he has to share them. We tried nursing in bed this morning and share the other side with his doll. It went OK, but he did toss the doll aside after a while.

So I am looking for ideas on what to do now. What worked for you?

I'm 34 weeks & nursing a 2 y.o. as well, so I dont' have any experience yet, but I do have some plans for dealing with the sharing thing.  We talk a lot about the baby coming & how the baby will need to BF too & how DS will have to share.  He doesn't fully get it yet, but I think he has an idea of what I'm talking about.  I've heard that nursing the baby in a wrap or sling can help as the older child may not even notice that the baby is nursing.  DS likes to offer my bbs to his toys, so I'm always nursing his rubber ducks or toy trucks.  I'm not too worried about it.  I think he'll just be thrilled that my milk is back.
