For those of you in NYC, you can actually see the exhibit at the NY Hall of Science through April. Â It will be in LA in May and in DC in 2012.

A big problem is that many of the Arab names were "Westernized" so many Americans have no idea of the history/contributions of so many Arabs and Muslims. Â Arabic was the language that educated people spoke and wrote in during what in the West was the "Dark Ages". Â Al-Zahrawi became Abulcasis. Al-Razi, credited with numerous firsts and the author of a medical textbook which was used for centuries in the Muslim and Western world. became Rhazes. Â Musa ibn Maimon, aka, Moses ben Maimon, the great Jewish philosopher and physician who wrote in Arabic and Hebrew, became Maimonides. Â
