Good job starting already! My closet is scary. I haven't even tried to go in there today.

ps. The next big project is the garage. But that can wait for another kid-free weekend!

Time for a break! Major progress though. All that's left is laundry and the dreaded elliptical. As I suspected...vertical storage was the missing element. Once I put in the shelves and laundry sorter, it went pretty quickly. I did all the sorting last month and had plenty of bins. Plus a major purge the attempt before that!

Yay!

I made some progress too but I see I also need a wall shelf but that's going to mean taking out the bikes that I just got in there.I'm trying to talk myself into it.I guess I should see if I even have the necessary hardware...

Laundry plugging away. Looks like I might finish this weekend!!! Thanks for giving me a semi anonymous place to get a deadline...I am incapable of working without a deadline!

I'm in!
I can't pick:
1. I need to pick paint colors for my kitchen cabinets and walls.
2. I need to do an all-over straighten up of the house. We were prepping for a consignment sale, and I let things go this week.
3. Laundry-- my situation there is a bit more complicated. Gain's formula changed for their laundry detergent. It was the only one I could use. I've tried all free clear, tide free, 7th Generation free and clear, Charlie's (still currently trying that one since it makes me the least itchy) and I think I have one more idea before I give up and just use water. *sigh* So I have laundry that has been washed in all different detergents and then I have a few things of mine that were only washed with water. I need to figure all of this out.
Reporting back and quite happy about it.
1. I got some paint samples and painted white and blue on my walls all around to figure out my colors. Learned that I need to go with more of a pale gray with hint of blue. But the white I got seems like the perfect creamy somewhere between ivory and bright white. It's cloud white by Benjamin Moore. I think it'll work.
2. Well-- there's always tomorrow, right? I did start.
3. This is even more exciting than the white... I decided to go to Shoprite after Ace hardware because they are in the same area. I found some of the OLD GAIN detergent! Now, this is the second time I thought I found old Gain, and that Gain turned out to the new formula in old bottles. I got home and was so disappointed. This time, I checked right in the store. I opened up the bottles and sniffed them and looked at the detergent inside. You can see the difference. I know this time i got the right stuff. 8 BOTTLES of the right stuff. So I will have clean clothes without rashes! Yay! I can get caught up on laundry!!! I will have to continue my search for a new detergent, but at least I have plenty of time.
SO tomorrow, I need to get caught up on my laundry and continue to get things straightened up. I have a couple of rooms that look like the pictures posted. My family room is so full of laundry, it's making me crazy, and now I can wash it.

I ended up having to take things apart to swap out the correct size washer. But it only took a few minutes. And I finished the darn elliptical!!! I ended up picking up one more small shelf. (Good thing I just got my tiny annual bonus with all of these shelves...but so worth it!)
So, just need to put that together in the morning and keep plugging away at laundry. Then I can start the normal housework. ;p. It never ends!

Yay! Everyone's plugging away! And since I had nothing to do but work on my stuff...I'm now DONE!!! There are about 2 loads of laundry left. One small sweater drying in the middle of the floor as you can see. But I finished the downstairs!!!!! Just in time to clean the upstairs. :P

Here's my after shots:

The mostly empty shelf by the stairs is for the sewing machine and crafty stuff that is stashed in random corners around my living room. :) The wire shelves aren't too expensive at Target (compared to other places I looked), but I like how they look so much better than the plastic ones! I used "garage shelves" in the house for years out of necessity...these make me happier. :)Â
Â
Oh, and the elliptical actually works! My excuses are dwindling...
WOW, RollerCoasterMama! What an AWESOME job!

I have a couple hours this morning and I'd like to tackle my bedroom and closet. DH took the kids to our Quaker Meeting and I opted to stay home this time. I also have a box of papers in our bedroom to go through and a drawer of papers that have been there since before DS was born (nearly 14 months ago).
I have 60 items to give to a friend who is having a baby girl soon. I have a bag of toys and board books for the library playgroup. That's another 60 items. Then there are many more items that I need to get ready for a pick-up. I have to get them out the door before I can count them on the 2011 things out challenge. I'm up to 1000. I might just make it if I keep this up.
I also got some laundry done, and I straightened up the family room. It's still covered in laundry, but at least it's clean laundry. I need to get to work in my kitchen, but I am starting to tire out now. I have been up since 5 am. I woke up thinking about paint colors and planning my attack for today, gave up on sleep at about 6:20 and got to work.
Congrats on the progress to all.

That's awesome!Â
Â
Due to the stomach virus that plagued my house this weekend I ended up doing a LOT of laundry. Good thing I was kind of caught up. This also led to some major work on DDs room. Not all done, but a lot of work got done on it. I didn't think to take pictures, but it's definitely better than it was.Â
Â
I also squeaked in some tiny bits of time to work on UFO # 23. Everything is cut out for it (which is really the hard part that I need time and space for). The rest is "just sewing." I also ended up ripping part of it while tying it on, so now that needs patching.Â
I got most of the bedroom picked up and I also vacuumed. I went through a whole box of very old papers and odds & ends.
Â
I still need to work on the closet and purge my old makeup (I recently switched to all mineral makeup.)Â
Â
BUT even if I don't get these last things done, I've made a lot of progress, thanks to this thread!

I'll probably tackle the next most embarrassing spot in the house next weekend...my closet. Aka...where I throw things before the cleaning lady comes over! So if anyone feels like playing again next weekend, just start a thread.

Thanks for keeping me company while I tackled the most intimidating project in the house!!!

I did it! Thanks to this thread my closet looks a on better.
Â
These are the sad before pictures with laundry, bags and boxes all over the place.
Â
Â
Â
The after pictures. I went through boxes, took some out, moved some. As you can see I still have the laundry to do but most of it is together. I have some things to take to Goodwill, some things to use. I'm so glad its together.
