My DD (almost 10 months) and I share a queen size bed. The mattress is on the box spring, we've tried to find a place to put the box spring so the mattress could be on the floor but we can't find anywhere safe to put it.

I have been looking for solutions to put on the floor since she started sleeping by herself more often (naps, earlier to bed) over the last couple of months but haven't had any luck, though am on the lookout for an affordable rug to put beside the bed that isn't too toxic to soften the blow should she fall. We toss down a pillow or blanket usually though.

Anyways, recently she moves more when she's alone- until now she's always cried out before she tries to go anywhere giving me lots of time to come into the room- but now sometimes when I come in she is crawling around. Of course, I do not want her to fall out of the bed.

We are trying a new bed rail (ones we've purchased previously haven't worked for various reasons) and it SEEMS okay, but with how it gets installed it's created a gap against the wall of about 1" because of the ends on that side. It's also squishy along the bed rail and seems like a baby can get limbs stuck there, too. Would using it just be causing more problems than it's solving?

this is the bedrail, only we have the one for double-queen.
