Why do I second guess names I like?

Every time DH and I agree on a name I end up researching it and over think it. We had settled on Elyssa when my mom suggested Elysia. DH and I both like it but now I am all worried about how people will pronounce it. I would pronounce it El-ee-see-ah but I looked online and found several variations of how to pronounce it. My son has a name that is often mispronounced and my name usually is too. Anyone else having name commitment issues?

We're not even CLOSE to deciding on a name! Nothing feels right yet! I keep thinking that when I hear THE name, it will just feel right. So far, everything is just blah to me.

That is exactly why I don't do any naming until the baby is born anymore.  With my 2nd pregnancy, I picked a name out really early, but by the time the birth came around I couldn't stand it.  Everyone was confused on what her name was and why I decided to change it last minute.  Now we just pick out a name after the baby is born and seeing it as an actual person makes me not grow to hate it.

I would also pronounce that name Uh-lee-see-uh. I like it! I've also seen it spelled Alycia. I had a girl name I really loved (Cordelia : Delia for short), but now it sounds silly to me and I'm thinking I like Edith instead (Edie for short). Strangely my DH has finally come around on a name I wanted 2 babies ago (Ramona), so maybe we'll settle on that one. As for boy names...we're completely unsure. We don't know the gender, so we just have to keep searching. I'm thinkig maybe I like Malcolm, but I'm not even 50% sure. It's hard with 4 babies in 4 1/2 years! Sarah*

I decided I am just going with the first name DH and I decided on. Elyssa. I feel this baby just wants to be named that.

I think waiting until birth is a good idea if I ever had another one!
