Yellow discharge from eyes allergies or pinkeye???

I've been sick for the past 4weeks.  Started with a really bad sore throat the day after that was gone woke with severe pinkeye in both eyes.  Got drops for eyes which helped to make it better about two days in but since then they've stayed the same ( still slightly red, waking with yellowish goop in eyes) also sore throat keeps coming back in waves mostly bad upon waking.  Went back to doctor he thinks allergies?  Would allergies produce a yellow discharge?  He wanted to give me different pinkeye drops just in case plus allergy meds.  My doc wasn't in and I really didn't like this guy so thats why I'm asking to see if anyone has any thoughts? Thanks!

I had that once and my doctor told me it was just a virus (I had sore throat, cough, lost my voice and had the eye goo).  I put a warm wet washcloth on my eyes several times a day and the eyes got better within a week.  I didn't take any antibiotics or do drops or anything.

I thought that at first but it's going on past 4 weeks now so I feel it's gotta be bacterial or allergies but just don't feel like it allergies?
