DS & odd toy behavior

My DS (2yr old) is doing something odd with his toys, or maybe it is normal, but that's what I'm here to find out.  When he goes to bed, he likes to sleep with toys.  His obsession right now is Buzz Lightyear, so he sleeps with the action figure.  Except he lays ON Buzz, putting the toy in the area of his penis.  Now he has a diaper and pj bottoms on, so its not on his skin, nor do I know if he can even feel the toy there.  Then he covers himself with his blankets.  Sometimes he moves around on it.  He has done this with other toys too, like his shark and dinosaur flashlight.  But he only does it if he's going to bed.

Is this a comfort thing?  Is it a sign of abuse?  Or is it just something little boys do?

It sounds like he's masturbating. It's totally normal, for little girls AND boys. They explore their bodies and find out that it feels good! It's doesn't mean he's been abused.

It's something 95% of the worlds population does... And it's perfectly normal.

That's fine if thats what he's doing, I understand its normal.  I guess I just didn't expect it from him at such a young age.

Some babies start as soon as they can move.  It's totally normal, and the less attention that you draw to the situation the better IMO.
