What do your kids call you?

I always just assumed DS would call me 'Mommy' just like I called my mom and every other kid called their mom... It never occurred to me that I could ask him to call me something else, until a friend of mine said something about her DD not calling her "Mommy." I have to admit, it really appeals to me to have DS call me something else, for multiple reasons!! I like 'Mama', and right now he alternates between that & 'Mommy', but I really don't know what I'd like him to call me long-term (not 'Mommy' though). What do your kids call you??

I really love Mama.  I don't even know why, but that's what my kids called me up until they realized it could be Mommy or Mom.

Now my almost 9 year old always calls me Mom.  My 4.5 year old calls me either Mama, Mommy or Mom depending on his mood.

"Mommy" if she is really needy, tired and clingy.

"Ma" if she wants something.

"Mom" if she is about to make a statement or ask a question.

"My mom Deb" when talking to other people about me.

"Deb" if she thinks she's being humorous and clever and sly.

My kids call me mommy and occasionally my oldest calls me mom. I don't think I realized that I might like mama better until it was too late! But in my family of origin, mommy is the norm and that's what I called my mom when I was younger so that's all I knew.

DD calls me Mama. She started out with Mommy (which I actually preferred for some reason) but switched when we moved overseas (she was 2.5yo at the time) and started to mimic as best she could what she heard other kids calling their mothers in their native language (Arabic) and she Americanized the pronunciation over time...though, funny enough, the language influence did not affect what she calls DH (Daddy), perhaps because the name in Arabic was different enough, starting with a completely different sound.

We do "Mama" and "Daddy" here. I still call my parents Mama & Daddy, so that's my norm and what sounds 'right' to me.

we do mama and dada, though DD has started experimenting with daddy and dad. we'll see what happens as the kids grow up, people are already assuming that DD is old enough to call me mommy, and refer to me as her mommy to her.

Mama and Daddy although DS is picking up on other kids using Mommy and Mom already.  Sometimes also uses dad.  He is just three.

"Mommy" when we are home in NYC, "Mammy" when we go to visit my parents in Ireland and Anne sometimes when she feels like it.

I never told dd what to call me but did refer to myself as Mommy early on.

Dd has called me Mommy, Mum, Mummy, Mother and Mom. I think she usually calls me Mom now.

Our girls call me Mama and my DH Papa.  OR sometimes we're both called "mapa" when they are thinking faster than they can talk!

DD normally calls me mommy but if she really wants my attention she'll call me by my first name! lol.gif Or she'll say "mommy [insert first name]".  DH never gets called by his first by his first name so I don't know what's up with that!

They call me Mama or by my first name. DH is Daddy. Even though I called my mother Mommy, I'm not a fan. I always referred to myself as Mama and thank goodness it stuck! I'm just waiting on the day till my 8y switches over to Mom.

DS started right off with Mom at 6 months and never called me mama or mommy.  I thought that was odd.  Lately I'm "Big Mom" or sometimes I'm "Pink shirt Mom"  shrug.gif

My teens now usually call me Mom, although 14 y.o. DD still often uses "Mummy". When they were much younger, it was "Mummum" or "Mamma", and I loved both of them or "Mummy", and then "Mom".
