DS had a horrible yeast infection on his bum. It's all cleared up now. He's been in disposables since I noticed it. I've let them soak in hot water with ROckin Green and hydrogen peroxide and washed them several times in super hot water. Will this be enough to kill any yeast spores? I'm paranoid to put him back in his cloth now

I just went through this a few weeks ago when my baby was on antibiotics for an ear infection. It was AWFUL. Horrible yeast rash. His poor little bum was so sore. We used Nystatin cream on his bottom with disposables and then with flushable liners when i put him back in cloth. Â I ended up killing the yeast in the diapers with bleach. Use 2 to 4 tablespoons added to the hot wash along with your regular detergent (dilute it in lots of water first, you don't want straight bleach going on your diapers). If you have a front loader use less, like 1or 2 tsp. Â Then run 3 or 4 more hot washes and tumbles in the dryer on hot to wash all the bleach out. Â We are back in cloth and his bum looks perfect now. Â
Â
You may also want to consider giving him some Bio Gaia infant probiotic drops to help him fight the yeast from the inside-out. Â You can order it online. Â
Â
good luck!!
also meant to add, if you don't want to bleach and nothing else is working to kill the yeast, you can boil your diapers. Â But, it's dangerous. Wear gloves, be super careful, make sure baby and children are absolutely nowhere in the vicinity, etc etc. Boil only a few at a time in a big stock pot. 12 mins boiling for each batch. That should do it.Â

I thought about the nystatin as well, and remembered that it wasn't completely clearing it up, so we went to a clotrimazole cream and that did the trick
When we dealt with yeast, which we beat using Jay Gordon's Grapefruit Seed Extract (citricidal) protocol, we took two main steps toward preventing reinfection: 1) cleaning potentially infected household surfaces with a solution of 20 drops of GSE per ounce of distilled water and 2) washing diapers in the hottest water possible (dumping stock pots of boiling water into our top-loader got it to temperatures too high for yeast). We also added 25-30 drops of GSE to every rinse cycle, as Jack Newman suggests.
Â
If you want to avoid chlorine bleach and want to feel absolutely certain, you could give boiling a try. I boiled my daughter's prefolds and doublers after a stomach virus during the winter, and it wasn't too bad. Everything held up very nicely.
Â
Good luck!
