How long to cut out soy for?

I'm breastfeeding my 14 week old and suspicious of food allergies. I'm vegan, so no dairy or eggs to cut out, so thought I'd start with soy. How long can it take to notice a difference after cutting it out? (Possible symptoms are red ring around anus, mucus in stools, slow weight gain, irritability.)

My plan is to cut that out for however long is necessary, and then if no improvement cut out gluten, corn, citrus and chocolate (good lord did I just say that?!).  Is there a rule of thumb for how long it can take to notice a difference? Is there a better way to do this?

Thanks! :)

For breastfeeding for my son, it was 4 days to get out of his system. But for soy now for him it takes 10 days to get out of his system. I think the average is about 4 days though. Keep a food journal....

Thanks! I thought it'd be longer than 4 days  so that's good! Now I'm thinking though to eliminate all at once for a week and then add in one food at a time - it seems faster? I'd cut soy, tree nuts, citrus, corn and chocolate. I want to keep the gluten for now - too long a story while nak. Would a week be long enough for all those foods? I don't want to limit my diet too much while breastfeeding.

They usually say a couple weeks for dairy and a month for gluten, but everything else seems to be shorter. In Dr. Rapp's elimination diet, she has you go off everything for 7 days and then add one food back in each day after that (which is WAY too quickly). When you add in foods, if you're nursing, you have to wait 4 days between additions because of the delay both in getting into the milk and the delay in getting back out of the milk.

Thanks! I figure for the mucus in poop symptom I'll have to wait 4 days plus a poop before adding in another food - ds doesn't have a bowel movement every day, so there might be an extra day or two to wait, I think. To be safe. I don't want to go through this and not have clear results!
