Books for siblings

Thread Starter

I'm looking for some books to get my 2 year old DD about pregnancy, birth (specifically natural birth) and newborn care.

So far on my list are "Before You Were Born", "Baby on the Way", "What Baby Needs" and "We're Having a Homebirth". We already own "Mama's Milk".

Hello Baby is a great homebirth one. It's out of print so it's hard to find but I got one on eBay and it was worth it!

Also: I'm a Big Sister. Doesn't cover birth but is a great one for getting used to the idea of the baby and of being a big sis. (There is also an 'I'm a Big Brother'.) Some people don't like it because it has one scene with bottle-feeding, but I just change it to "the baby has num nums" when reading it out loud.

I was going to suggest "Before You Were Born", but i see it's already on your list.  it's been my daughter's favourite book, since i was pregnant with her brother over 5 years ago!   lol

We have Baby on the Way and What Baby Needs and really like them both. I also have the Lil Monster one, The New Baby. It's OK, but not AP at all. The baby seems to hang out in the crib with a bottle a lot. It does talk about how the new baby doesn't really pay much attention to people, though. We also have The Baby Sister by Tomie Paolo. DS likes it, but I don't find it helpful in preparing him at all. Also, the grandma in it is kind of mean.
