Cell phones, Ipad's harmful?

So hubby has a cell phone with an app on it that's a baby rattle. My baby is 11 months old and it's not like he just gives him the phone an off he goes or anything he just gets a kick out of showing it to the baby and the baby gets excited. I cringe everytime it happens though! Obviously a real rattle is better and I'm not saying we're replacing a real one with the phone one but at the same time, should I tell hubby not to show him that AT ALL?

I personally am concerned about radiation levels, which tend to be higher with smart phones.

Here is a list of radiation levels and other information from a good source:

That said, these things --computers, smart phones, ipads, are a part of our world and I don't think we need to pretend that they don't exist for the sake of our children.  Limit exposure, but I don't see any major harm in the baby playing with it.  There are some awesome Montessori aps for iphones that  I would totally let my kids play with, if I were to have a phone like that.

:)  hope that helps!

Can you post the awesome iPhone apps you referred to?  We've been successful in keeping our 2 y/0 away from TV but the iPhone was a losing battle.  She sees DH and I use it and she wants to copy us.  So we've found some cute toddler learning games that I don't think are detrimental to her development and would like some new ones...
