I found this today at my local library.

Could you explain more about what you wanted to discuss? I'm not sure how this fits into our Lactivism guidelines, found here.

Hmm, sorry for the confusion. I guess I just wanted to throw this out there to see people's reaction. I don't know what to think about children's books that are so blatantly pro-formula, with no mention of breastfeeding. To me, it's an example of how normalized formula feeding is in our culture. I've seen threads here that discuss the lack of exposure that breastfeeding gets in our culture, and how formula-feeding is so pervasive. I was surprised that there is a book geared at children about this, and wanted to know if my reaction is shared by others, or if I'm being dramatic bag.gif

So these types of books

are ok, but this one Rugrats book and how burglars aren't going to steal a baby's food, which happens to be formula, is horrifying?

Wow

yes

I don't think it's horrible. It was probably written as cookies at first, but cookies are now a "sometimes food" ;)

Really poorly written? Probably.

I think it's a sad reflection of how formula feeding has become normalised in society.  The juxtaposition of the words "perfect" and "formula" don't help, either (although I realise it's a play on words of sorts).
