These chicken pox are making me crabby.  O isn't too bothered by them at all, though.  He broke out with a few more yesterday.  Aaargh!  I'm 36 weeks and can't handle not knowing if the others are going to break out with them too.  That is driving my schedule driven brain wonky!!!!  If I didn't have a severe pph last time I would seriously consider going UC.  I'm not sure what we'll do for child care because my mom is suppose to watch them, but she also watches my young nephew and we can't expose him.

I'm seeing the chiro this afternoon so I'm looking forward to see if that helps me with the hip pain.

I want to be done working too!  I'm here now and I'm crabby, uncomfortable, and swelling.  Work days I puff up like crazy and non-work days my ankles look completely normal.  I have a desk job so I know it's from sitting all day but it's awful.  I know that the closer that I can work to my delivery date the better, and I'm taking every Friday off right now.  It's still hard though.  I leave my house at 7:15am, drop both kids off, work, pick both kids up and get home at 6:15pm.  11 hour days four days in a row are not fun at 37 weeks!

39 weeks and so ready. I'm going to start packing the hospital bag tonight and am planning on getting a pedicure and hair cut this week. We still need to grab a few things out of the attic, but I need DH to do that.

My kiddo is crying about something, better go figure that out.

I had that too, last pregnancy, for months. I eventually got compression stockings to wear every day to help with circulation and it wasn't quite as bad.

I've never been to a chiro before.  She had a table that would drop out and make some of the adjustments.  She also gave me a couple of exercises to do one of which is crossing my legs.  I though that crossing legs might be illegal so I haven't done it much.

My 4th was at the doctor's yesterday getting her varicella vaccine.  It's her second and her doctor is hoping that it will prevent her from getting it with being around her brother.  It might not work, but she said it is worth trying.  That makes me feel a big more calm about the situation.

Going in for my app't today.  I feel bad for dh because he doesn't get to come along since we can't bring O into the clinic.  I'm trying to rack my brains about any questions that I might want to ask but so far I have none.

So DH and I have a girl's name we both like. We're still going to wait until we see the baby to decide for sure, but it's a good name all the same. Abigail Kathleen, Abby for short. Still no boy's name, though. Not good, since genetics are on the side of a boy (DH is one of three boys) and we've both been leaning towards boy. So we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I've been having strong menstrual cramp-type sensations for a couple of hours and the baby is VERY low suddenly, but I don't seem to be having any regular contractions or anything. I'm hoping those are signs of impending labor, though. Today would be the absolute BEST day for the baby to be born - it's DH's 30th birthday!

Love Abby!  Such a sweet name!  You'll know if it fits her as you get to hold her.

We're still struggling with boy names so I'm no help for you with that!

My appt went well.  I'm measuring 41 weeks.  Only have gained 23 pounds this pregnancy which is about 20 pounds less than any other pregnancy.  We're scheduled next week to see the perinatologist to have scan for size.  My 4th was almost 9 pounds and my 5th had a 14 inch head so we'll see how this one measures up.  I'm not that motivated to go early because we have to wait another 2-3 weeks to know if #4 will break out in chicken pox or not.

had an appointment today with midwife.  2cm/50%/-1  enough dilated that she could get in and strip a little.  that makes me happy even though realistically that means nothing.  I did go into labor within 24 hrs the only other time we stripped membranes but I was 41 weeks so I'm not expecting that this time.  Now all of a sudden I'm totally freaked out and thinking 'holy crap am I ready for this!?!?" I'm having some bleeding after the exam, too.  EEEEK!

My friends hubby has to have an unexpected surgery tomorrow and I am supposed to watch their kids from 11-2 or 3.  I'm still hoping for Friday for delivery but not really expecting to get what I want! Guess we will see how this all plays out.  I think after Sunday (my last day scheduled to work) I will be able to get in a better place about possibly going to 41-42 weeks.  Right now it seems like a nightmare but I know I did it before and can do it again.

Had my 39 week appt yesterday, 2 cm and had my membranes swept. I'm crampy, but still here waiting, so I guess my body just isn't ready.

These last couple of weeks are so challenging. I feel like hiding. DHs coworker's wife was due the same day as me and had the baby on Monday morning. I am SO jealous!

Had my 37 week appointment yesterday.  Apparently, I'm GBS+, which has me a little depressed.  I'm having a hospital birth, which means now I have to have IV antibiotics and have to be there at least 4 hours before the birth in order to get enough doses or else they'll take it out on the baby.  I hate hate hate hate IVs and heplocks, and I really wanted to show up at the last minute, but I can live with both of those things.  The part I can't deal with is the minimum 48 hours they'll keep the baby after birth.  I need to get the hell out of there and get home to DD and to my bed where I can actually sleep.

Other than that, I've also realized that, as miserable and in pain as I am this pregnancy, I am absolutely not ready for this baby to come yet.

Puddle, is the 48 hr stay hospital policy, any way out of it? I was GBS+ with my third and had the abx while I was in labor and we left exactly 24 hours after he was born.

I had my 38 week appt yesterday, very inside fo my cervix is 1cm, but the outer part is 3-4 and that is without much pressure from his head at all, so once that gets down there, I have a feeling we'll get somewhere.  I had to tease Dh that his induction efforts were a failure since there really wasn't much change from the week before, he said he is willing to keep trying -- what a trooper.

My poor mw is the only mw in a practive of OBs and family pracitce docs and she has 12 due in April!  3 of them already had their babies, I'm a little jealous.  She has to stick really close to home, she has me having baby #4, one having #6 and another having #7 -- could be some fast baby having there!

I'm not really uncomfortable, but I still want him to come soon.  Let's get this show on the road already!  Watch me go to 42 weeks now, just for spite.

Nadia:   your dh cracks me up

He did admit that part of him hopes it doesn't work for a little while longer, he's not a fan of the pp dtd ban.

Nadia--The 48 hours is hospital policy, and my pediatrician doesn't have privileges there so there isn't much chance of getting around it.  The only option would be to leave AMA, which brings its own complications.  My monitrice is going to give me the info about the GBS protocol she gives her midwifery clients so I can treat it and try to remove what little threat of infection there is, but clearing it up won't make a difference to the hospital.  About the only hope I have is begging my doctor to retest, but I don't know if she'd go along with it or if she'd accept a negative result after the positive.  All of which would require the baby to stay put long enough to clear up the GBS, retest, and get negative results back.

did you have any bleeding or spotting after the sweep??  I'm bleeding quite a bit.  not heavy but more than spotting.  trying to decide if its a good sign or not.  My doula had another client due the same day as me who delivered Sunday.  Her 1st baby, too.  Thats why she felt comfortable taking 2 of us due the same day.  oh well.  my baby wants to be an April baby!!

Puddle- sorry aboutthe GBS +.  I am, too.  sucks.  I'll be doing abx in labor but since I'm doing the birth center don't have to worry about a stay.  Still- I don't like to think about getting there early.  I like to go when I'm good and active.  My mw said she would come to the house early and run in the 1st dose if I wanted her to.  Guess I'll have to see how it goes.

Puddle, that stinks :(.

Becca, that offer for her to come to the house for the abx sounds nice, then you could be done with them before you are in hard labor.

Nope, not even a tiny amount of spotting.

Vent time: my sis in law is the only family we have in town and my two year old is uncomfortable with most other friends. So sis in law is our person we have lined up to come take care of the girls while I'm in labor and at the hospital. Well, my due date is Sunday, and just today she sprung it on DH that she's planned a last minute trip out of town over the weekend. She'll be an hour and a half away. My first reaction is to be really upset about this, but the rational part of me knows that the baby probably won't come on his due date and an hour and a half drive for her to get back isn't that bad.... But what if I DO go into labor and things happen super fast?? I have no desire to labor with my kids around and will not bring them to the hospital. Even if nothing happens this weekend this just adds an enormous amount of stress to my life. I feel like crying.

Vent over.

I think you are completely justified in being upset about her trip, the timing sucks!  She won't be super far away, but it could still take several hours for her to get there to help with the kids.  Like you said, that's an extra stress that you don't need!  Do you have a backup person who could stay with the kids just until SIL gets there if thing move quickly and you have to go?

I hope he either comes before she leaves or waits till she gets back!

Mandy - Abby is such a sweet name!  Glad you decided, we still haven't.

Michelle - if your LO has chicken pox I hope they break out ASAP and be done with it before you have the baby or that the vax works and they don't get it.

Becca - I'm hoping to deliver on Friday too!  I cannot believe you're still working, I get exhausted reading about how long your shifts are.

Puddle - that sucks about having to wait 48 hrs postpartum to go home because you're GBS+.

Hannybanany - I feel your pain.  My mom and/or MIL will be taking the kids and they're about 2 hrs from us so I need to call as soon as I know I'm in labour for sure.  My mom told me that she doesn't like driving in the middle of the night so I may be stuck with the kids while in labour and possibly for the birth.  Thankfully DH is more than willing to take the kids away if needed.

DD screamed throughout my entire MW appt, including the 20+ mins we had to wait before the appt.  She's been a holy terror all day and I've no idea as to why.  She gets like that sometimes.  I think it may be sugar related (she can't eat chocolate without having a meltdown) but I'm not sure.  It was awful, I couldn't hear what my MW was saying.  DD's been like that all day.  I just want to curl up somewhere and forget I have kids for awhile.
