wouldn't mom's immunity keep the newborn from getting chicken pox? i assume Michelle is immune...

hey just lost some of the mucus plug!!  LOL!!  I'm sure its just from the sweep earlier.  I'm still spotting and not contracting really- at least no more than usual.  I've never had that before.  I know it really means nothing at all but its kinda exciting.  Maybe, just maybe I won't go to almost 42 weeks this time.

mucus plug is TOTALLY exciting! woot!

well. so far today we have confirmed baby is head down, dilated to 1ish but very soft and stretchy. about an hour ago i started contracting and had a good amount of bloody show.. still contracting every 4 minutes but not unbearable or painful really so this could just be from DTD with DH but things are moving so ya. i went through a bit of severe anxiety between contractions at first but I'm feeling more in control.

well I've been reluctant to post this because I don't want to jinx anything, but I'm kinda like "eh, whatever" about it now. lol. Last night we went out to eat with my parents and brother for my brother's bday. I made it through dinner ok but was a little achy and uncomfortable. Of course, I assumed this was because we were eating at a hibachi restaurant where they cook at the table and I was SOO HOT the whole time. Then we get back to my parents house and out of NOWHERE I had to RUN to the bathroom because of some serious diarrhea (sorry, tmi!) I was totally shocked and worried about food poisoning or something. But then 10 minutes or so later I felt something else, went to the bathroom and checked and had lost a TON of mucous plug. I came back in and told DH we had to leave ASAP. We got home and not much was happening at first (except more loose stool) but then started contracting irregularly from about 10pm-6am, some VERY intense! However, at 6am they totally petered out and I slept until about 8:30 when I got up for the day. Haven't had a single contraction all day and feel nothing at all now. I'm so bummed!! I know it could go on like this for a while but I was so sure that it was the real deal. I have a feeling tonight things are going to start up again closer to bedtime and do the same as last night. I tend to contract more in the evenings anyway and I just have a feeling I'm going to keep going through this until I'm ready to pull my hair out, then finally baby will emerge. lol. DH and I DTD earlier and that did produce a few really intense contraction, but not for more than like 15 minutes. Then I had a chiro appt and she did some labor-inducing adjustments, but I haven't felt anything since and that was 3.5 hrs ago. *sigh* Who knows. I'm only 38w2d today so I know I still have a while before I can really get upset about it, but it IS really frustrating when you've been calm and relaxed, have something REALLY REAL happen to get your hopes up and then nada. grrrr. I was in such a good mental place- what happened?? lol.

Anyway, good luck to the rest of you experiencing things like this. I keep telling myself that this baby has a special day picked out that it wants to be born and I just don't know it yet.

Oh... side note: This is really interesting. And another reason I thought last night might be the real deal. Our server's name at the restaurant last night was Jilly. Our girl name for baby is Jillian with the nickname Jilly Bean already picked out by DS and DD. I've NEVER in my life met anyone who was named Jillian (aside from celebrities that is) and NEVER EVER met someone who goes by Jilly. But sure enough, there it was on her name tag. :-) I thought this was some sort of Omen. We'll see I guess. I just thought that was really special and interesting.

Yay for losing mucus plugs!! I literally just came on here to tell you ladies that I just lost mine too :-))))). Never saw it with my girls, but there's no mistaking that glob of goo. Maybe, hopefully, it means something will start happening soon.

How far dilated would you say I am if I am 1.5 fingertips dilated? I haven't had any cervical checks but in the shower this morning I was cleaning out some of DH's prostaglandin donations (lol) and decided to check and see what I felt. cervix was pretty low and I could easily fit a whole fingertip in, plus some. So maybe a fingertip and a half?... Just wondering if anyone knows how this translates?

A finger tip is 1 cm. Now you have me curious as i need to clean up some "donations" myself.

Well, it's after midnight, so no baby for DH's birthday. I'm still having lots of contractions, some of which are getting pretty strong when I'm walking around, but nothing regular. Here's hoping things get going soon!

Try to get some sleep and ignore them as best you can!!

Ooohh!!!!  Fingers crossed for all of you that are starting out with some contractions!!!!  Maybe today is Baby Day for you!

For me, I finally found a baby boy and a baby girl outfit that I'm happy with!!!  Even DH likes them so that is a bonus.

I lost just a trace of a mucus plug today.  Maybe that will mean spont labor in a few weeks.

I've had chicken pox as a kid so I'm not worried about the newborn catching it.  I'm more worried that my kids will be banned from seeing me on the postpartum floor.  They are so excited to see the new baby.  And the one that could still catch it is a mommy girl so it will be hard enough for her with me gone.

This is where I will be post partum.

So excited for everyone who is having some impending labor signs!  It seems like a lot of us may be going early this time!

Windymama, my youngest has been a handful lately too.  He's normally pretty laid back and we take him lots of places while the big kids are at school, and it's been a lot more challenging lately.  I swear he knows that he is about to be 'dethroned' and isn't loving the idea.  He's also 3.5, and I have always found 3 to be the most challenging year for some reason, so it may be a double whammy.

I don't like this waiting game.  I am always torn about making plans and possibly having to break them or not making any and then just sitting here thinking about how I'm not in labor.  I did start making appts for things like a massage, I still need to make a haircut appt and a chiro one, possibly a pg photo shoot if I can get in.  Dh would really love that, but I'm not sure about spending the $$.

OK, aren't second babies supposed to come SOONER than first babies? I am 37 weeks today and DS came at 37+1. I was having all kinds of pressure and contractions and stuff last night and today - NOTHING. Since I'm full-term I've upped the black cohosh starting today but I've been taking it a week now and I've had no cervical change at all. I'm still 2cm and 50% effaced. I don't know what station the baby is since I can't feel my ischial spines, but I know s/he is engaged because I can feel the head when I check my cervix.

I am just going stir crazy! I've been out of work for a month now and I haven't gone that long without work since DS was born. I'm too tired and sore to go anywhere most days, so I'm just sitting around waiting waiting waiting.

Anyone else feeling ultra-irritable lately?!

My 2-yr. old is driving me nuts, and I am serious when I say that normally I enjoy almost every minute with her during the day.  Everything she does lately annoys me.  I have purposefully been avoiding any contact with my MIL because everything she says ticks me off (for no real reason either!).  I want to just hide out by myself until this baby gets here.  I know it's not going to be a picnic with 2 kids, and we will have some adjusting to do, but I am ready for the "old me" to be back.  I am typically a pretty laid back happy-go-lucky person...

omg yes! thankfully it has passed. last week was hell for irritability though, which my kid picked up on and responded to, which made me more irritable. bleh! so glad we've mellowed out this week.

YES!! I was doing great, as far as irritability goes, but this week I've been a b*tch! It doesn't help that both boys and I have been sick this week and I've been more exhausted than normal. I've had no patience for anything. Nearly burst into tears yesterday when a misunderstanding over a repair company's policy happened, and had to hold myself back from going off on the poor lady I was talking to about it. And right now as I type this, I am unreasonably pissed at both my boys because my daycare kids woke up a little early... sure the boys were making noise, but that's nothing new lol..... *sigh*

I'm cranky and irritable too. And exhausted.

The SIL situation got sorted out, so that's one less thing making me cranky.

Lost mucus plug last night and continued losing some pink tinged stuff throughout the day, but I haven't had any more contractions than normal. So here I wait.

Alright ladies. What is one thing we can each think of to do in the next week that is enjoyable?  We're getting Thai food tonight and I am really looking forward to that. I want something spicy!  We're trying a new place that some friends told us about that runs less than our favorite place that we walk to. I usually get the same dish - panang curry, like a #2. I LOVE LOVE Thom Ka soup, so I have to get that too.

DH is off tomorrow and Saturday so he'll be around all day so I'm looking forward to that too. I doubt we'll do much out and about though but we'll try. There is a chocolate factory near us that has awesome chocolate and you can sample all of it (like 30 kinds/flavors).
