Crafty Mamas - What Are You Making? - Page 9
Where are you in Kentucky!!?
Im actually in southern (way southern) Indiana in Madison but Im in Louisville all the time for my OB appointments....Im constantly fighting the Colts fans up here...UK all the way :D
You guys are sooo creative! I love everything!
Where did you ever get the idea for that flower??? I really want to make one for my DDs room!
I have been crocheting like mad - but unfortunately it has been all for other people! I do have one little hat made and I have yarn to make all kinds of other things - just haven\t gotten to them yet. I think if I knew the sex I would more motivated, but we are keeping it a surprise.
I only have a couple weeks until my EDD and I have never made it to 40 w in the past so I should get working! I love to crochet and sew and now I am even more motivated. If I can get to it I will post some pics of things I have made for others that I plan to make for this LO too!
I had done something similar with the kids that I taught an art class to. We werent' doing flowers, but making what looked sort of like an iron sculpted moraccan border (I can't even remember what for...)
I posted some instructions for it on one of my blogs...although you don't really need instructions;) (I guess some people would?)
Flatten toilet paper/paper towel rolls.
Cut into bands, pop them back out a bit to form a petal. Arrange in pattern, and throw in some school glue.haha
I made it a little bigger now, I"ll probably have dh do the humpling task of spray painting my tacky creation in the near future. Just haven't decided what colour!
I've had a busy week, craft wise- gotta love working from home! Sunday, we did a second belly cast (new one on the left, first attempt on the right). This time, DH did it, and clearly it went MUCH better. The first try I did myself, so there were all kinds of air pockets, not to mention I didn't have a mirror and couldn't exactly see what I was doing. This time I'm very happy about it. It was a bit, um, colder though, so I don't feel like I can show this picture to, say, my dad or anything. But I plan on painting and finishing, and eventually hanging it in my office (I'm a childbirth educator/doula & training to be a midwife)
I had this giraffe-skin sheet that was a loner and didn't fit any of our beds, so I have made two two-sided blankets (as well as some sheets for our co-sleeper). This one turned out much better than the first. I'm a very beginner sewer...
This one is a changing pad cover I made, and the buffet/ dresser that DH refinished. He's pretty crafty. The furniture had been in our basement, and previously looked awful. We were going to throw it out, but did some research and he decided to strip and refinish it. It is a Kentucky brand called Consider L. Willet. I can't get over that the guy's parents named him Consider. Anyway, it is now home to baby clothes and cloth diapers. The changing pad cover turned out fairly OK, but I would definitely not look to closely- as I said I'm a beginner! I found the fabric at a thrift store, and am so excited to make more stuff with it. I guess maybe I have a thing for animal print??
Corabelle, I'm now collecting toilet paper rolls to make something cool like that! I guess it is a good thing that I have to pee every 20 minutes now!
Amy May! Love all the craftiness. Your belly cast is great, and it is awesome that you will have a place to put it. We had mine from ds in our room until this summer. Occasionally, dh would put bras and clothes on it. Now it's in a closet :( Sadly, it just didn't make the cut for wall art after our remodel. And your blankets/changing cover etc are wonderful, as is the dresser. Great work! I will post my cosleeper soon--maybe this evening if I get a chance to take pics.
